If you use ricotta you are not following this recipe. USE THE COTTAGE CHEESE!!! Don't let it scare ya. If you want a recipe using ricotta, there are several of those on this site. But I highly advise giving the cottage cheese a try; it is the ONLY way my mother ever made it growing up, and it could not have been better. ?

The store was out of cottage cheese so used rizzato instead. It turned out delicious! Can't wait to try it with cottage cheese!

Great recipe, and very easy. I used beef breakfast sausage instead of ground beef (because that's all I had). The only problem with the result was my own fault; my toddler dumped out my garlic powder and I only had garlic salt, so I used that, but it was too much salt. Ooops. Still delightful, in spite of my judgment error. I also added chopped spinach to the sauce mixture, which was wonderful. Can't wait to try the recipe again with the right amount of spices!

We loved this lasagna. I used ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese, otherwise I followed the recipe exactly.

Wonderful! Love mushrooms, so I added them. Would recommend it to anyone. The sauce has a wonderful flavor! Will probably use the sauce again for other Italian dishes.

We loved this! I used whole wheat lasagna, 1% cottage cheese, mixed a big handful of frozen (squeezed out the water) Spinach in the cheese mixture and used less mozzarella to make 1/8 worth only about 8 points for weight watchers. It was really filling and delicious!

A delicious Lasagna, I too was skeptical of the cottage cheese but I stuck with it and it was delicious. The curds melt while cooking provided you mix the cheese and egg together with it properly and it makes a delicious sauce.

This recipe is great just as it is. However, to bulk it up a little I added ground italian turkey sausage to the sauce and thawed/drained frozen spinach to the cottage cheese blend. Definately a keeper. Will remake soon!

This is truley a keeper. The sauce is so versatile. Do add in red wine, not white for a full flavor sauce. I use this sauce for everything Italian, forget the jar! It makes so much you can freeze it for future, easy to prepare meals!

Thank you for a great recipe! My husband loved it (and he's picky about lasagna). I used ricotta cheese and added a lot of seasoning in the beef and added in some basil, fresh garlic (instead of garlic powder) and a bay leaf in the sauce. I was very pleased with the results!!

My husband and I didn't dislike this lasagna, though we both would have liked it a little more "tomatoey". I didn't have any parmesan cheese so I added a little sour cream to make up the space, and I didn't find it made it too soupy like I was worried it might. I made sure to beat the cottage cheese with a mixer real well and it turned out great. I also added a diced green pepper and an 8 oz. can of mushrooms, which were a nice addition.
