These are the best brownies I think I've ever had. My husband requests them once a month and affectionately refers them as "crack brownies" because once you've tasted them you find yourself wanting seconds, then thirds... I didn't have baking chocolate on hand so I used a 3.5oz 72% cacao Godiva chocolate bar to melt into the butter and then added 2 TBSP of Scharffen Berger unsweetened cocoa powder to the flour. Otherwise I followed the recipe They turned out perfectly sweet and deeply rich for my tastes. Thank you to the wonderful person who originally posted this recipe!!!

I thought the brownies came out like cake brownies instead of fudgy brownies.

My husband just walked in from work and asked if I had made brownies today, so I logged on and found this recipe. I just finished making these brownies with 5 squares of semi sweet baking chocolate and 1 square of unsweetened baking chocolate because that was all I had on hand. I also added some unsweetened baking cocoa for good measure. I tossed in a handful of pecans as well. What a quick and yummy recipe. Thanks for sharing!

This turned out great the first time I made them..fudgy & gooey. I kicked it up a little the 2nd time by adding 4TB cocoa powder and a few chips & some M&Ms left in the bottom of a bag that was hanging around. They took me to the hospital for chocolate overdose.

First time making brownies. These turned out delicious! I halved the recipe, used 8x8 pan, and added half a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Thanks for this one. =)

Very good recipe - to me this is the quintessential brownie. They were not extremely sweet but could be iced if you like them sweeter. I made them according to directions except (accidentally) left out the salt.

I followed the tip from the other reviewer who doubled the chocolate, used 1 c brown sugar, and beat the eggs separately with the sugar first. (Though I only used six 1-ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate (didn't have 8 squares handy)). I thought the brownies came out nicely, though a bit plain tasting. I was fine with them not being super sweet, but I think next time I try this recipe, I would add coconut or peanut butter (or chocolate chips) to give the brownies more volume and flavor. Overall not bad at all and very easy to make.

I made a few changes, and out came the BEST brownies: Used 8oz dark chocolate (70%) Used 1cup dark brown sugar with 1cup white sugar. I mixed the eggs with both sugars until almost double the volume, then added the vanilla, chocolate mixture, and finally the flour mixture. Baked for 30 min in a pan lined with parchment paper, and it came out just great!

These are some of the best brownies I have eaten. I have tried many different recipes but they never seem to be the right consistency of fudgy/cakey. These are perfect. The joke amongst my friends and I is that you can't have just one. It is unfortunately true.
