I did alter it. I added 2 eggs, used 1 cup milk, 2 cups of cream, 1 cup of sugar, and used the same amount of lime juice they recommended. I then heated milk and sugar with lime peel. Beat eggs and make sure to temper to the milk and add the cream, lime juice and heat until it starts to become custard. Let sit in the fridge overnight and then add it to the ice cream machine. It tastes like key lime pie in ice cream form. Love it. Give it a try.

This was yummy and refreshing on a hot summer day. I added 2 eggs to the milk and cream before cooking for added richness, and it was perfect. Works great in the Cuisinart Ice Cream maker.

This is the first ice cream I ever made. I have a second had '70s style ice cream maker and it worked just fine for this. It was tangy and really good, I might try using half and half cream next time.

This wasn't my favorite ice cream. It was very sour and I could see pieces of lime peel in it. My younger sisters liked it though, otherwise I would have given a lower rating.

Not willing to take a chance on this unconventional method of making ice cream folding in whipped cream, I chose to make it in the traditional cooked custard method and added 3 egg yolks. The egg yolks made this ice cream richer, as did 2 cups of whipping cream and 1 cup of half and half. In addition to the refreshing lime flavor, this was without question one of the creamiest, most velvety smooth ice creams I've either made or tasted anywhere. I sure hope I never forget or lose this recipe!

Very refreshing. My family loved it. I did mess up and add the cream and milk at the same time with the sugar and it was still delicious and simple to make. Will definitely make again.

You really don't need an ice cream maker for this one! I just froze it in a tuperware instead. It was better than any store-bought ice cream. I think I am going to try the same recipe with different fruit flavors next time! It was so good!

AWESOME! I made it for a luncheon and it turned out great. Also this ice cream makes a good base for other flavors! Using it, I have made banana and strawberry ice cream too! Thanks!!
