They were great..Very smooth. We made simple syrup out of a 1/2 cup water and a 1/2 cup sugar.cook till clear. and then cool.
This margarita was WAY too sweet for our tastes. I made simple syrup using Splenda Granulated (1:1 ratio with water) which could possibly have made a difference. This was the first time I really appreciated the salt on the rim of the glass. It should be noted also that the ingredient list just says simple syrup, but the directions note sugar-free simple syrup, and I don't know that sugar-free is readily available for purchase, meaning you would have to make your own.
Overall, very tasty! And it's definitley a lighter version of a classic margarita so you don't have to feel too guilty about it. Since I couldn't find sugar free simple syrup I opted to use "Simple Syrup with Truvia(R) Natural Sweetner" from this site. Perfect over crushed ice!
Made mine even lighter by making a simple syrup out of stevia and water rather than sugar. Light and crisp!
This was a perfect accompaniment to our Cinco De Mayo nachos and refried beans. I love that I saved calories at the same time.
Very refreshing and light!
Very basic margarita recipe, but, tasty! Would also be great as a frozen drink.
I didn't even know sugar free simple syrup existed until I saw this recipe! Always looking for ways to cut calories and this is a really fun one!
