The best waffles for a Belgian waffle maker! Loved them.

Great waffles!!!!! These took a little bit of time, but well worth it. I used the milk vinegar substitute and doubled the sugar my family enjoyed them greatly.

Made these for Saturday Brunch. Lighter and cripsier than the other recipes that I've used. Will probably double the recipe and freeze some for weekday breakfasts too. We keep on falling back on this recipe - so I should change the rating to 5 stars! My son likes the yeast waffles better, but these don't have to sit over night!

I love how keeping them in the oven crisps them up. My husband and I loved these. I will double it next time. I used vanilla infused sugar in the egg white and it was very good. Thanks for sharing this one!

These were great. I didn't have buttermilk so I used 1 cup milk - 1 tbsp then added 1 tbsp vinegar. Followed everything else exactly. My only complaint is that I used a lot of dishes to make these. I think I will take another posters advice and make extra of the dry mix next time and freeze it.

These were okay but no different to my taste than any other scratch waffle recipe I've tried. Keeping them in a warm oven did help crisp them up (my waffle maker is actually a George Foreman with waffle plates... not the greatest for crispy waffles)... but the taste was just average. Will keep looking.

So light and crisp! Just as the names says! I too used the "1 c milk less 1 T, and added 1 T vinegar" since I had no buttermilk at the time. This recipe is a keeper!! Wonderfully light - not heavy. How could that one reviewer have followed the recipe and found them dry??

Crisp and delicious- way better than any of the old cookbook recipes I've seen. Too much time and effort??!! Oh dear, you actually have to combine wet with dry ingredients and do a 15 second beater session! There's no other way to make homemade waffle batter, is there? RE: not enough to feed the family-?? I followed the author's plainly spelled out advice of DOUBLING the recipe for a party of 4. Good advice since unused batter doesn't keep. This is very good, very simple.

I set out on a quest for the perfect waffle, I won't say that it is over yet (I'm still willing to try other recipes)... but so far this waffle has received "The Best Ever" award from my husband. Light, crispy... and good flavor.

Oh my goodness this is the recipe I have been looking for. I've been trying different recipes since I got my waffle maker a year ago and this is definitely the one I'll be making from now on. It takes a little more prep time than the other dump and stir recipes, but it's worth it. I didn't follow the recipes exactly - I changed servings to 8 so that made the eggs 1 1/3 or something, and I just used two eggs, plus I eyeballed a couple other quantites, and it didn't matter. I also had a two-year old at my feet yelling "waffles, waffles!" so I didn't waitt he full time for the eggs to be whipped, but they were light. Fantastic! Easy recipe with great results. Just dip them in syrup instead of covering them and they stay crispy a little longer.

Remember to spray your griddle! Overall good, time in the oven helps to make them crispy, first time making waffles, I think I'll try other recipes and compare. Would make again.

They came out very nice and golden brown. Not too chewey, but not too fluffy either. Perfect!

This was the best EVER waffle recipe! Adding an extra tablespoon of sugar as someone suggested was the only change I made. I've never had waffles anywhere so nice and perfectly crisp on the outside. Between the husband and I, we ate more of these than we usually would have. Fantastic flavor and texture. I am shopping for a new Belgian waffle maker now to update my very old one that has absolutely no features on it. I know I'll be making these a lot! Thank you so much for this recipe!

For those of you with health in mind..... Use Hodgson's Honey Whole Wheat Bread Mix in place of flour (since it's not much but flour itself) and only 1/4 tsp. of salt. Prepare your socks for launch. It's the best whole-wheat thing I have ever tasted and it's good for your heart! Wheee!

I followed the directions exactly but mine turned out dry the whole way through. They were still ok with a lot of syrup but probably only because I was craving waffles and don't treat myself very often. Also, I have a family of 5 (husband, 3 children, and me). This recipe does not make nearly enough for a hungry group (especially had everyone liked them).

Yum! My husband and I LOVED this recipe! (I had to do the same thing as another reviewer and substitute milk and vinegar for the buttermilk. My buttermilk had gone bad.) They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, just as the recipe stated. I will use this again!
