I loved this recipe!! I used an extra onion, and once it was fried, I removed the excess oil... Delicious!

This was fantastic! I read a few other reviews an added veg stock and cumin. Looking forward to making this again!

Love this recipe. I have been making this for years. You really can't go wrong with this recipe. Get those onions really dark. Such good flavor.

I am thrilled that I have found another dish to add to my rotation of dinners! And it is a vegetarian dish!-my family could use to eat less meat. Thank you to all the hints that others have previously submitted, ex. the addtion of spices, soaking of lentils, rinsing of rice, etc. Definitely, needs yogurt! And cucumber salad was a wonderful suggestion.

Mmm! The yogurt & onion flavors are great. I'm excited to try variations: garlic, cumin, added veggies, etc. Mmmmmm.

I doubled the onions (because I lik'em) and use stock instead of water. I also have never eaten it with yoghurt.

Loved it just as written! Even my picky eaters will eat this. So simple and economical - this recipe goes in my normal cycle of monthly recipes.

I love this dish. Of course, I make it my own, I use chicken stock rather than H2O, added fresh ginger, cinnamon, cumin, and used organic, extra virgin coconut oil. I even put in a little diced carrots the last time, sweet and tasty! Thanks!

A very good base idea, but needs spices (cumin, curry, cinammon) and much more onions. Great with cucumbure salad and very filling.

This recipe is delicious - I was searching for something else to do with lentils besides soup, tried this and now I eat this for breakfast or lunch - my doctor recommended eating more beans, particularly replacing traditional breakfast foods, and I've been using this recipe, as is, for about a year (I don't top with the yogurt or sour cream - I like it plain). And I've lost a LOT of weight, in big part due to replacing my breakfast or lunch with Mujadarrah.

Much easier than the one I had. But was far too bland. A little garlic salt fixed it right up. Also needed twice the onions and olive oil. Next time, I am adding a can of stewed tomatoes. Still rating it with 4 stars just because it was so easy.

Awesome! Took other suggestions regarding using 3 onions vs. 1. Used organic vegetable stock instead of water. Used salt and pepper only. Very flavorful without cumin, cinnamon and other spices suggested. My suggestion is to increase onions, use vegetable (chicken or beef) stock, and go from there. You can gzuszh it from there your second time around. Don't let the flavor of the letils, rice and onions get lost in spice!!!

I used 2 large onions, 8 tbsp of oil, 1/2 cup golden raisins, 1 cup rice, 3 2/3 cups water, 3/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1 tbsp sugar, no yogurt or sour cream (didn't have any)... I cooked the onions, cumin, sugar and raisins on low for 45 min till very browned. Kids and I liked it.

What a surprise this one was. Had great flavour and texture. Took note of other reviews and added chicken stock, cumin, dash of cinnamon, garlic and used 3 onions. Use yoghurt rather than sour cream as it combines more easily. A definite 'do again' Thanks for sharing it

OK, but if I make it again, I will add lots more onion and some spices to give it some zing. My husband like it with cornbread.

This was a good starting point to grow from. I used other reviewers suggestions and increased the spices. I also used more onions. I oooked my lentils seperate. All in all a good idea for a comfort food for me.
