Directions

  1. Saute bacon and onion.
  2. Place lentils, bacon, onion, celery, carrots, water or stock, tomatoes, and bay leaf together in a large pot and simmer until tender, about 45 minutes.
  3. Add sliced wieners and salt and pepper to taste, and continue cooking for about 10 minutes.

Loved it! I just added some beef cubes (for stews), and oregano and it was a success at my family dinner. Will do it again for guests.

easy meal does well with chicken base. if using condensed chicken base omit the salt

Well, lentils are good and wholesome, but I would not feed this to my kids too often. It will not go into my regular rotation.

I loved it! The second time I made it though I added a box of chopped spinach in place of the canned tomatoes and I also used chicken broth in place of the water. I absolutely loved this variety of the recipe!!!
