Traditionally made with the pan drippings from thinly cut and seared veal or chicken, this easy vegetarian version can stand on it's own and be used as a sauce for seafood, grilled vegetables, or the more traditional chicken or veal.

Grated lemon peel brings delicate flavor to this rice side dish while pecans add a satisfying crunch. Cindie Ekstrand of Duarte, California sent the recipe for this crowd-pleaser that can be quickly prepared. 'My sister gave me the recipe,' she writes. 'It's easy to make and very tasty.'

This is the best I've made. It tastes like the ones I have tried at Chinese restaurants.

A dipping sauce for rice rolls and for barbecued chicken, beef, pork or fish. Perfect for salads as is, or mix with a little vegetable oil. Make smaller quantities with lime or lemon juice but refrigerate as this will not last as the rice vinegar version does.
