OMG, these were fabulous!! I confess I messed with the recipe a little because we wanted bars with two crusts. To do that, I pressed 1/2 of the crust mixture into a 9" square pan, and then sprinkled the rest of the crust on top of the lemon mixture. I found that the baking times in the recipe (15 min for the bottom crust and then 30 min for the whole thing) worked just fine. The crusts were more like short-bread than anything else, but ohhh, these bars were GOOD!! They were a birthday present for someone who just adores lemon bars and he loved them. These are definitely in my recipe box. Thanks RCOMP!!

Lemon bars came out great. My only problem was that the sides and top became kind of crunchy...but my mom loved the crunchy part anyways. I added lemon zest and about a teaspoon of pure lemon extract to the bottom crust. Came out great!

These are absolutely delicious. I have made them twice in the last couple of weeks. I still need work on the crust, it is coming out to crunchy. I wonder if not siffting the flour has anything do do with it, hum! I will continue to try because they are so good.

This was my first attempt at making lemon bars. I waded through many reviews and did make a couple of changes based on other comments: 1. added 1/4 tsp salt to base (I was using unsalted butter), 2. added more flour to the crust to prevent it from becoming too greasy, 3. added a couple drops of yellow food coloring to the curd mixture, 4. covered the pan with foil after 15 minutes to prevent curd from browning, and 5. dusted the bars with sugar after cutting, not before. A really nice recipe - thanks! Pretty easy to make and tasted delicious. Some tang, but not too much. Great for a party! Oh, and I "cheated" and used all bottled lemon juice.

These were a real hit at my cookie exchange...I personally like a bit more "tang", but they were good.

These were delicious! I even messed up and only used half of the butter in the crust, and these still turned out great. I prefer mine a little more tart, so I will likely add a bit more lemon juice next time. But they are fantastic as is.

This was DELICIOUS! This was my first time making lemon bars by myself and I was worried that they weren't going to turn out. But they turned out wonderful! My family and boyfriend loved them so much and so did I! Half of the pan was gone within a half an hour! I will definitely be making these again. And I did use some of the suggestions of the other reviewers in my recipe so thank you other reviewers!

Fantastic Recipe! I used a little over the 5/8 cup of lemon juice- probably more like 3/4 cup and put the zest of 2 large lemons into the filling. They turned out perfect- not too sour and not too sweet. I sprinkled powdered sugar on the top and they look great- I am taking them to a dinner party tonight and i am confident people will love them! Thanks for the recipe. :)

:O That was my face after eating one of these! Wow! I really don't like lemon squares, but I loved these! The only things I changed was to add some lemon peel to the crust and add a touch more flour to the lemon mix. These were a fantastic hit at game-night, and I think all of my friends experienced severe sugar-and-lemon overdoses.

I just made these a couple hours ago, ran to an appointment came back and tried one. REALLY GOOD. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great. I made them in a glass dish and they just pop right out..I was a little worried because when I took the crust out to put on filling, it bubbled up when i poured it on..but alls well. They are great !

I thought the filling was kind of thin. Next time I'll probably increase the filling by half. I also thought that they were not lemony enough, even though I increased the amount of juice to 2/3 cup. I'll probably go with a cup next time. I like super tart and super lemony and these were definitely not it. Thanks for the basic recipe though.
