"Delicious individual meatloaves! The flavors are great and the topping is to die for. The lemon on top makes a nice presentation."

METRIC
INGREDIENTS (

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1 egg, beaten
4 slices day-old bread, torn into small pieces
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1/4 dash ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
6 slices lemon

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or a dish of similar size.
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, lemon juice, water, egg, bread, onion and seasoning salt until well blended. Shape into 6 individual loaves - I like to make large balls. Place them in the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven while you prepare the topping. In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard powder, allspice and cloves. Spoon the sauce over the loaves, then top each one with a slice of lemon. Return to the oven, and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until cooked through.

This is my favorite meatloaf recipe. My mother would always make it when I was home on a college break. This was my first attempt at making it. I'm not a big clove fan, so I excluded the ground cloves. And I used extra-lean ground beef, Egg Beaters and light bread to make the recipe a little healthier. Delicious!

This was a great recipe-- somewhere between four and five stars, so I rounded up. Instead of four pieces of bread, I used two pieces of bread and one cup of panko crust mixed in with the meat. And when I make this recipe next time, I will cut down the amount of lemon juice by 1/4 or so.

I have used this recipe for over 30 years - just renamed it to Individual BBQ Beef Loaves. Someone who did not like meatloaf actually asked me (begged me) to make this. It is my daughter's favorite.

I decided to try this because the glaze sounded good. I made meat balls and placed them in a muffin pan so it would be more appealing to my son (whose is picky beyond belief) and them spread the glaze on top of each one and baked accordingly. They turned out really good and he actually ate about 1/2 of one. I served these over rice and skipped the lemon slices. Thanks Tiffany.

I put it all in a loaf pan instead. But it was very tender and tasty meatloaf.

This recipe was a big success. the only thing I did differently was to add 1/4 cup of commercial barbeque sauce, I added half of a chopped green pepper and I put bacon over the top of the loaf. I didn't have any leftovers.

The meatloaf was good. It could have used some more spice, such as basil or oregano. Didn't like the sauce. The clove and allspice flavor was too strong for me. Bottled BBQ sauce ended up being what I used. Otherwise, the lemon gave the meatloaf a lighter flavorl.
