Lava Lamps

"Me and my friends made this up during a party we gave about 10 or so years ago. We were drinking champagne and shooting gelatin shots. We chunked up a gelatin shot and added some to a glass of champagne. A few years later I mentioned this idea to some guests at the restaurant where I was bartending. About 3 months later a local bar was advertising these drinks."

DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, stir together the gelatin mix and boiling water until completely dissolved, about 2 minutes. Stir in vodka. Pour the liquid into small paper cups or portion cups. Chill until set, at least 2 hours.
Pour champagne into glasses. Break up the gelatin with a fork, and pour into a glass of champagne. A little stir gives it some 'lava' action. Drink with caution, these will sneak up on you.

These are alot of fun. The key to keeping it look like a lava lamp is to break the jello shot up really well with a fork. I put it in the flute first, mashed it, then added the champagne, beautiful. Thanks!

These are great! I used cherry vodka and cherry jello. They were great for a retro party. All my guests wanted the recipe.

Very fun. You can add a layer of green (Midori) or blue (Blue Curacao)

These were great! I had to use only one table spoon of the gelatine shots per glas (only had one Jell-O package), but I will definitelly make them again. Thanks for the great idea!

Made for New Years and they were a hit. Definitely something different. I don't usually like jello shots, but I loved them with the champagne. Made 2 batches, strawberry and blackberry. Yum!

Made these little treats for New Year's Eve, and watch out! They are wonderful, but will definitely sneak up on you! I have made them several times after, and everyone always loves them.

This was a really neat idea that everyone loved this new years. I will make them every year from now on, as they were such a big hit. I might not put as much vodka in next time....they did sneak up on me. :-)
