substituted most of the oil with applesauce to decrease the fat content and the cookie still came out. doubled the oats and will decrease the amount of sugar to 1 3/4 C next time - a little too sweet for me with everything else in the cookie. added peanut butter to the wet mix and used a variety of chocolate chips instead of butterscotch. Will bring these to the local firehouse 9/11 to say thanks for all they do.

These cookies have a very nice appearance, texture and crunch, and the flavor is buttery and not too sweet. In spite of all the ingredients, the taste, while good, is not outstanding. I cut back on the salt since I used salted butter, and I can still taste salt. Added chopped pecans, no raisins or chips. Thanks for a nice recipe, Jean.

I love these cookies. I add mini M&M's, different chopped nuts, Smarties, sometimes peanut butter, whatever I have around the house and they are always wonderful. My kids loved them when they were small and still love them in their 30's!

An excellent cookie recipe! I reduced the oil by half and they turned out crispy and flavorful. For variation, try chocolate chips in place of the butterscotch. Thanks for sharing these delicious cookies.
