4 (1/2 inch thick)
tomato, thinly sliced
green bell pepper, cut into thin strips
onion, cut into rings
salt and pepper to taste
2 (10.5 ounce) cans
Incredibly simple and succulent. beef stock 500ml (2cups) and a generous dash of dry white wine (approx 1/4 cup) worked well as an alternative to the consommé
This worked well, I should have started dinner sooner but that was my fault for not looking at the cooking time when I read the recipe earlier in the day. The rice came out perfectly done the meat tender and juicy and the flavor was banging. Good enough that I was forgiven for missing the 6 Oclock dinner bell :)
Easy and tasty. I used three roma tomatoes and Penzey's Bavarian Seasoning instead of the marjoram and thyme the recipe calls for.
This was easy to make and tasted great. Add a little hot sauce or red chili peppers to spice this dish up a bit if you like that kind of thing.
So glad to see most of you agree with me. I did try this recipe again (or my version anyway)and as always, we love it. "We" is my Silky terrier Oliver and me. You can probably imagine how hard it is to cook tasty dishes in a manageable amount for just the 2 of us. This was perfect for 2 meals and I love that. I have been cooking for many years and have never followed a recipe exactly I use a recipe for inspiration, suggestion, or as a reminder of how others do it. I review the ingredients and add or delete whatever suits me. I always feel bad for the cooks who are disappointed by their efforts. The only advice I will offer is - DON'T GIVE UP! There is so much good food out there and so little time to try it all. You can't go wrong with this oldie but yummy recipe!
I Love making casseroles & this one is a keeper! Very flavourful with this simple combination of ingredients.
