Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spray 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, stirring frequently. Add chocolate to melted butter; stir continuously until chocolate is melted.
  4. Use an electric mixer to combine butter/chocolate mixture with sugar in a bowl. Mix until well combined.
  5. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until each one is thoroughly blended in. Add vanilla and Kahlua, and mix well. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients; stir until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Transfer batter to prepared baking dish and bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. To make the buttercream:
  9. Beat butter until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  10. Add powdered sugar, one cup at a time.
  11. Add vanilla, Kahlua Mocha, and salt, and beat until well combined.
  12. Spread evenly over cooled brownies.
  13. Cut into squares and enjoy!

This is only based on the brownie recipe. These are a very rich, fudgey brownies, similar to the "Best Brownies" on this site. We like them, but I was expecting Kahlua flavor to be more prominent. Couldn't really tell it was in there in my opinion. Good brownie though.
