Ingredients

  • 2 (8 ounce) packages fresh mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
  • 1/3 cup tarragon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 6 drops hot pepper sauce

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, cook and stir mushrooms in butter until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and place in a medium bowl.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together dry Italian-style salad dressing mix, tarragon vinegar, water, vegetable oil, white sugar, garlic and red pepper sauce.
  3. Pour the whisked mixture over the mushrooms. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 8 hours before serving.
