We thought this was pretty darn amazing. I took a tip from another review and baked it on a pizza stone in my gas grill. I set the grill to high and left it there where it hovered around 450 to 500 degrees- it tasted just like something from a gourmet pizzeria. Browned and crispy on the outside, chewy, soft and moist on the inside. Word of advice: only double this recipe if you want pizza dough coming out of your ears. I didn't think it would be enough for a family of four as is, but doubling it I ended up with enough dough for 6 nice size pizzas- I ran out of cheese and made a garlic, olive oil and parmesan bread with one hunk of it. I ended up eating mine standing up because I was so busy cranking out the pies! Bonus: cool kitchen on a hot day.

Very good pizza crust. I cut the amount of yeast required in half (for a thinner crust) and added 1 teaspoon of soy lecithin for better mixing. It didn't rock my socks off, but it was a decent homemade pizza crust. The main downside was that there was not a lot of bubble definition in the cooked crust, even with a pizza stone.

Really good, thick crust recipe. Very simple, and easy to prepare. I may try suggestions from other reviwers and add some herbs to the mixture next time to kick it up a little.

I'm notorious for making super tough/hard pizza crust...crust that could crack teeth. But, this is a no brainer. I've made it a handful of times already, and each time it has baked perfectly. The 15 serving size is too big for my pizza stone, so I just divide the crust in 2, make a couple of balls and freeze one ball for later. I love to add Mrs. Dash seasoning to the dough, a little mozzarella cheese, garlic, etc. Also, I don't have one of those nifty wooden pizza spatulas to put the pizza on the stone, so I usually prepare the pizza on parchment paper and place it on top of the stone - voila! no sticky mess.

It was really good but it took a lot of time to make so plan your day with that in mind. Additionally, make sure you realize that this recipe makes a huge pizza, so what we did was divide it into thirds which was fun because we got to create three extemely different pizzas.

I made this in my stand mixer. Worked very well. I actually ended up using about 4 1/2 cups of flour. Made two pizzas (about the size of a frozen). Update - tried this in the bread machine and it was horrible. To sticky to handle tried kneading more flour in but it didn't help. Threw the dough away and baked a frozen.

This is simply just the best pizza crust recipe out there. I have made it too many times to count and I have found that it definitely bakes better on a pizza stone. It will throw you at first b/c the consistency is sort of sticky, but just hang in there and follow the recipe. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. You will never order take out pizza again!

I give it 5 stars for taste and 3 for ease to work with, so an average of 4 stars. I upped the recipe to 20 servings so it would make 2 large pizzas. I also made mine in my bread machine. It mixed up well but the dough was very sticky and I ended up having to mix in quite a bit more flour to make it workable. Now I use 1 3/4 cups of water as opposed to the 2 cups called for in the 20 serving recipe and that helps. I have still had to add in a bit more flour but not nearly as much, I could probably cut back a bit more on the water. The crust is very tasty though so it makes it worth the extra stickiness.

This crust was AMAZING! I never made fresh bread before and it turned out excellent. I made the Four cheese margheritta pizza from this site. I baked the crust 5 minutes before adding toppings and then baked for another 15. It turned out perfect. We dipped our crust in melted "I can't believe it's not butter spread" with garlic powder.

This crust was really good. I followed the directions exactly except cut the water down to 1 cup and the flour down to 3. I made a thick crust and baked ito n a pizza stone. The crust came out very soft on the inside and had a nice crisp on the outside. Very good! I usually eat thin crust, so I will divide this in 2 next time and see how it holds up.

WOW! This was delicious. I made the recipe exactly as called for and did not expect it to turn out well because I'm a mess in the kitchen! However, it suited even my novice cooking abilities and turned out DELICIOUS! I'm passing this recipe on to my mom.

This is a great recipe after I figured out what worked best for me. First, I mixed everything in the bread machine like any other dough. I split the dough in half but we like a thick crust and so no more splitting the dough. The first half, I baked on a pizza stone on the bottom shelf but will not do that again as it was tough. I refrigerated the second half and removed from the refrigerator, generously oiled a small iron skillet, sprinkled with cornmeal and "tossed" the dough by letting the weight of the dough shape the circle. (Just hold by the edge and work around in a circle until the right size.) I placed it in the pan with a piecrust edge. The crust rose on top of the warm stove while the oven was heating. Then, I put on the toppings, drizzled a little extra olive oil around the outside crust and baked on the middle rack. This was great! We want be ordering anymore Pizza Hut pizza! I don't see a need for preheating the skillet or prebaking the crust. This is a really good crust and I look forward to trying bread sticks and cinnamon sticks with it. I might try a little more sugar in the crust next time - possibly natural brown sugar, a little Italian seasoning and garlic as some suggested although, my husband said that it is perfect the way it is. Thanks for a great recipe, Jay!
