I make this on holidays and it is always the hit of the party. My husband does not like sweet food, but he loved this salad.

Wonderful salad. I made it as written and as everyone else said, I was asked for the recipe over and over again. I did not dress the salad, preferring to keep the dressing to the side. Now I am looking forward to making some for myself to eat this week at work.

I agree with some of the other posters - use balsamic vinegar. I also used cherries instead of cranberries and it was delicious. A restaurant near me make this salad and adds blue cheese and uses walnuts instead of pine nuts - also very yummy and a bit sweeter.

I figured all those reviews couldn't be wrong...and I was right!!! I used bagged spinach (2 9oz bags) and it was devoured at a party I took it too. I also added drained mandarin oranges.

Yummy!! I bought the almonds already roasted..made it a little easier to make. The second time I made it, I added some chicken.

This salad rocks! I wasn't able to use almonds because I was out so I substituted walnuts. My salad was awesome! My new favorite salad.

Reviewer - WOW! AWESOME! TIME saver tips: use Paul Newman's balsamic vinagrette instead of making your own dressing. MONEY saving tip: use "Craisins" dried cranberry fruit instead of regular dried cranberries. Use can of mandarin oranges instead of poppy seeds. THIS WAS A HIT!

I always get so much praise when I make this salad - the secret is in the dressing and the toasted almonds. You can also substitute strawberries for cranberries, and use Feta cheese to kick it up a notch.. excellent recipe!!

I know this already has a lot of reviews but it was so good I just had to add my two cents worth. The only thing I did different was toast the almonds in the oven with the sesame seeds instead of on the stove with butter. The dressing is what makes the salad!!

Yum, yum, yum! In reading the ingredients, I thought this would be a bit too sweet, and I did cut back on the sugar just a bit. It was perfect. Everyone loved it! I will cut back on the amount of cranberries next time and will look to add some sort of cheese. Maybe a nice creamy neutral goat cheese that can take on that yummy dressing. Thanks for the recipe!
