This was a hit! It's perfect for eating dinner outside on warm nights. I made the dressing as directed (love it!) but adapted the salad slightly. Like a few others, I toasted the almonds in the oven for about 10 minutes at 350. I didn't use the poppy seeds or sesame seeds. I bought Craisins because they cost less, and I also added mandarin oranges. Crumbly cheese like feta, gorgonzola or goat cheese work wonderfully for added flavor!

So simple, but what a great taste. I cooked the almonds with some honey stovetop and dried them on parchment paper. Yum!

This was a hit on Mother's Day. I made mine a little extra special by tossing in some fragrant, red rose petal chiffonade.

Mahvelous, simply mahvelous!!! I made this for an informal family dinner for 16 people. Everyone loved it! I used raw turbinado sugar because I was out of white and used EVOO instead of vegetable oil. Threw in some mandaring oranges, too. Other than that, followed the recipe exactly and it was fantastic. Several guests said they don't usually eat spinach salad but this was delicious!! I put some of the leftover dressing on cold salmon the next day and it was incredible. I think the dressing could be used for many different dishes, not just on salads.

This was the BEST salad and so easy to make. I followed one of the reviewers recommendations for using roasted pine nuts instead of the almonds and I also added gorgonzola cheese because I like cheese in my salads. The dressing was so tasty. Other than that, no changes. This is definitely going to become a staple for our meals! Thanks for sharing!

very good salad. I think it could be better only if the almond were sugared. Thank you.

I made this to take to a dinner party. I halved the oil and it was still a sopping mess in the over a pound of spinach I tossed it in. I had to take paper towels and try to leach off some of the oil, and then put it in a strainer to attempt to further reduce the oil. I could not take it to the party.

This is a must try! I did do a couple of things differenty. When mixing up the dressing ahead of time I grated the onion for a smoother texture, and cut the oil in half. I then added the cranberries and let marinate for about an hour wisking a few times. Lastly, when tossing the salad; I added crumbled reduced fat feta. I loved this salad so much I might have it again tonight!

One of the best recipes on the site, imho. I served this for 2 different Thanksgiving dinners, and everyone loved it. Even people who didn't like spinach couldn't stop complimenting and asked for the recipe.

Amazing! I too was surprised at the yumminess of this salad with such basic and minimal Ingrediants! I used 1/4 cup of sugar instead of 1/2 cup. Extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Walnuts instead of almonds. Rainsin instead of cranberries. Also put some sliced strawberries in as well and salt and pepper to taste. Also followed advice of others and baked seeds. Will definitely make again!!!!!

My sister-in-law is always asked to make the salad for family gatherings, because she makes it "the best." Well, I had the in-laws over for dinner the other night and served this salad (replacing the almonds with pine nuts and leaving out the seeds), and my mother-in-law raved about it and said it was even better than her daughters!! That would cause some family disputes if it got around! :)
