I kept the dressing as healthy as possible, so I did not use butter. I used a pack of trail mix instead of the individual seeds. I also used balsamic vinegar to substitute both of the vinegar. Added olive oil instead of vegetable oil. The salad dressing is a hit everytime and people always ask for the recipe.

We all enjoyed this. We don't eat sugar, so I dried my own cranberries and used splenda in the dressing.

Delicious salad! I usually don't like fruit/nuts in my salad, but made this for a party, and decided to try it because everyone was raving about it... wow, yum! There was a tiny bit left over, which I ended up eating the next day, wilted leaves and all. It was that good!

I love this salad. I made it for a big group and everyone loved it. I cut the sugar in half and it was still plenty sweet. Yum!

Simple, easy and delicious. You can use walnuts or pecans instead of almonds. I also add blue or gorgonzola cheese. I find the dressing ratio to be a bit off for my taste. I only use 1/4 cup of cider vinegar and leave out the white wine vinegar, but as others have said, any vinaigrette will work here. As a main dish, you can add some grilled chicken chunks.

Interesting taste. I avoided sugar completely just added one teaspoon of honey instead, substituted vinegar for lemon juice.

My girlfriend (not an AR member) brought this over last night for a potluck and I told her I would rate it. It is definitely a 5! Wow, what a flavorful, delicious salad. She used a beautiful mix of greens with the spinach, and everyone raved about it. She said she had to spoon the seeds over the salad as she didn't use all of the dressing, but otherwise no changes made. I've added it to my recipe box, and will make this myself!

Yummy, I have made this several times now with a different flair each time. The first time I followed exactly and it was awesome! Many compliments. My favorite twist (and a hit with all ages)is to use romaine instead of spinach and add some feta cheese. The last time I made this I was asked by several people for the recipe. (I also use a little less sugar than the recipe calls for). This is my new favorite. I want some right now!

I have been on this site for years and have seen this recipe but have never made it. Tonight I made an altered version of it, and it was very good. My husband and I cannot eat seeds of any kind, so I eliminated the poppy and sesame seeds. I also did not have minced onion - dried or fresh. I basically used the vinegars, sugar and oil in the proportion suggested, and it was light and enjoyable. Thanks!

Very good salad. I love the combination of the toasted sesame seeds and the toasted almonds. I also added some gargonzola cheese. It really bumps up the flavor. Dressing is a great combination of sweet and sour.

Absolutely LOVED this salad. I used mixed greens instead of just the spinach - which I highly recommend. I also added crumbled gorgonzola, which gave a nice balance of salt to the sweetness of the dresssing & dried cranberries. The dressing is wonderful. I left out the poppyseeds, because I didn't have any on hand - but didn't miss them at all. I will definatley be making this one again and again.

I don't know whether I love you for this recipe, or hate you. Thanks to this INCREDIBLE (not to mention easy) salad, I'm disappointed when eating any other salads. This is definitely going to be at my Thanksgiving dinner. I better plan on making a lot!! I know it will go fast!

This was my first time ever eating spinach, and I was a little worried, until I tasted it!! This was so good that even my super picky mother LOVED it. I think I will add crumbled bacon the next time and maybe 1/4 cup more toasted almonds, only because I loved the almonds. Way to go on a GREAT easy recipe!!
