This is an amazing salad!! I have never, until having served this dish, seen people go back for seconds on salad. I halved the recipe my second time making it, not wanting any leftovers, and ended up running around in the kitchen because people were begging for more. I do think this serves more like 12 people. I served this for Thanksgiving and at a Christmas party, following the recipe exactly the first time and the second time leaving out the sesame seeds because I didn't have an- they were not missed. This is a very hard dish to mess up. It is super simple! You can really play with this. I added a large can of mandarin oranges. Highly recommended!! I'll make this again and again!

Even better with blue cheese or gorgonzola. Great recipe, delicious dressing.

This salad was awesome. A bit more work and more expensive than your usual salad, but well worth it! It got rave reviews. I will definitely make this again!

I would give this more stars if I could. Made for Thanksgiving and later a dinner party. Rave reviews and requests for the recipe. Only change I made was to add crumbled goat cheese. Fantastic!

I made this for a potluck dinner. It was a huge hit -- I don't like cranberries, and I even loved this salad. I made it as written, and it was great.

A friend asked us to bring a salad for dinner. We were out of lettuce and tomatoes, but we had some spinach and cranberries. I have to say, this was the best salad I have had in recent memory. I had to improvise a bit based on what we had on hand (substituted sunflower seeds in place of the almonds) and chose to do so in other ways (used less than half the recommended sugar), but overall I stayed relatively true to the recipe and was rewarded for doing so.

Wow! This was sooooooo good. I followed the suggestion of others and cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup sugar. It would have been way too sweet if I would have used 1/2 cup of sugar. I also used a minced shallot instead of the 2 teaspoons minced onion for a milder flavor and added feta cheese. My fiance LOVED this salad and he has always refused to ever eat any salad unless it has Ranch dressing on it. I made more of the dressing yesterday so I can use it on other salads too. This is definitely a keeper!!!

I made this for the first time last week...and my husband has asked me for it every day since. Great way to get him to eat the spinach! I made the following changes: left out the poppy seeds and onions, substituted "regular" white vinegar for white wine vinegar, added extra cranberries and I threw the salad dressing ingredients into a glass jar with a lid and shook it rather than whisking it. Found it easier and probably just as tasty.

This is my first time ever reviewing a recipe and I have been using this site for years but this salad was so delicious I had to rate it. I added the Gorgonzola cheese as I had seen mentioned in an earlier comment but otherwise followed the recipe exactly and it was THE most delicious salad I have EVER eaten - thank you Jamie. Oh, and everyone at my Thanksgiving dinner said it was the best too. I felt like it really added a special touch to our special meal.

One of the best salads I've had in a while, definitely was perfect for thanksgiving as a healthy side! I added all the sugar, but it was a little sweet, I think next time I'll decrease the sugar. I also subbed in balsamic vinegar and olive oil and walnuts, only because that's what I had available - yum!

I used the recipe for the dressing only. Tossed it with spinach and topped with candied walnuts, cranberries, and mandarins. Tasty!
