Alrighty, this recipe was very delicious! Next time I am going to add fresh garlic, and more bell pepper. I did add fresh onion, and I went without the chives. I didn't have celery flakes like I thought when I went to the store, without the celery was still good! I shared this with my boyfriend and he thought it was delicious as well!:) Thank you for this recipe! It is worth making again!

Not at all like the jambalaya I had at a Cajun restaurant. I used a combination of fresh and dried ingredients, and followed all of the previous reviewer's changes. I added in a zucchini, diced. I also used four large scallops (diced), half a can of small shrimp and half a can of shredded crab meat along with some Merguez sausage. I ended up using two cups of water, a big can of tomato sauce, two cups of beef broth and the rice was dry and not even a little saucy. This made so much we'll be eating this for at least 3-4 days. I sauteed all the vegetables, then added the seasonings, rice and proteins and let it cook for the 20 minutes. The liquids I used were added while it cooked as it kept evaporating, I guess. The bottom of my pot did have some of the rice mixture burned onto it. The downfall really has to do with the amount of rice because it is not clear whether to use a regular measuring cup or the kind that comes with a rice cooker, otherwise I can tell this would be decent but not worthy of making again unless I needed something quick and all ingredients were on hand.

Good start for a really good jambalaya seasoning mix. I did modify it a bit b/c I like to use fresh ingredients in place of (or combined with) some of the dry, like minced garlic, chopped onion, & diced celery which I saute in the pot w/ the chopped green bell pepper before adding all the other ingredients. I also added a can of diced tomatoes, a bay leaf, and used beef broth instead of the beef bouillon & water, but that's just my preference. You can play around with the spices & the amount of liquid to suit your taste! For easy cleanup, I just add everything except the shrimp to the pot to boil & simmer for 20 min, then add the shrimp at the end and let simmer for another 5 min until pink. Turned into a great jambalaya! Thanks for getting me started! :)

I made it by request by my daughter's friend. We were not super crazy about it. It may just be because it's not our thing. If it is, you might give it 5 stars.
