Jen's Jambalaya

My family loves a lot of flavor and spice in our food and jambalaya delivers. This is my version of a New Orleans jambalaya that's got a nice kick to it but not overly hot for those who's tongues can't handle it.

A flavorful blend of spices, vegetables, and chicken is cooked in the slow cooker. Orzo pasta and shrimp are stirred in at the end of the cooking time to round out this wonderful dish.

No need to slave over the stove to prepare a delicious jambalaya! Toss the chicken, sausage, shrimp, vegetables, and seasonings in the slow cooker, and forget about it until dinner time. All you need to do is prepare the rice and serve it up.

Spice up this shrimp and rice dish to your taste by increasing the amount of Creole seasoning and cayenne pepper. Add a few drops of hot pepper sauce, too.

This Creole rice dish is a quick, lower fat version of an old favorite. I've had this recipe for many years, but have modified it for my family's tastes. You can do the same. There's a lot of room for creativity here.

This is one of my husband's favorites, and he's a picky eater, so you know it's good! Some folks are surprised how well chicken and shrimp complement each other.
