I actually want to give this 4 1/2 stars. I made 1/2 the batch with blackberry jam, and the other half with strawberry jam. The presentation of the cookies on the plates is very pretty and impressive. It looks like you spent all day baking, when, in fact, the recipe is simple, and easy to follow. I liked the taste of the final result cookie, but didn't love it. I would have preferred a more buttery flavor to the cookie. I found the cookie a tiny bit bland, but the jelly helps make up for it. My guests and kids loved the cookies, and I certainly ate my share, but I was hoping for more of a butter cookie.

Made exactly as written using orange marmalade. Super yummy and addictive. We just ate the entire first batch out of the oven! I got about 30 and there was a lot of jam left over, so you could probably get away with using 1/4 cup.

I used to make these as a kid & this recipe is as good as I remember. Don't make my mistake, as my fingers are a good deal larger than when I made these as a kid. I made my divits too large and as a result overfilled the jelly on the first batch. Make little divits & skimp on the jelly & you should be fine.

Addictive! Best if you keep cookie to jam ratio almost equal in each cookie.

these were very yummy! =D i used raspberry jam and it came out great! but for some reason they are all flat and blended into each other. i tried storing them in the fridge for 20 minutes before baking them so that they'd stay the same shape, but that didnt work either. anyone know what i should do?

This is a very quick and easy cookie to make. They turn out great every time and you can mix up the jam flavors for everyone. I love fig, apricot, and strawberry! A ziplock bag with the corner snipped off gets the jam in place without a big mess. Be careful not to overfill, though, or it will burn the excess jam and make it really chewy and tough!

this recipe is great. I have made this many times but I can't seem to get the middle of the cookie to get done. I have decreased the temperature by 25 degrees (which is suggested) but the over all taste is great.

WOW! These were loved...thanks so much. I used another reviewers idea of putting the jam in a sandwich bag and pumping it into the thumbprint. Worked beautifully.

So simple and so very tasty! I made this with my 3yr old after looking for a simple recipe he could join in with. He loved helping mix and form the dough balls then sticking his finger in them all. I would say you don't need that much jam in each but I suppose it's a personal preference. I will pass this recipe on to all my friends with kids as it's a fun and tasty way to spend an afternoon!

These cookies were a hit with my family and friends, and they're so easy to make! I think I might use only about 2/3 cup of butter next time, though. Thanks so much for the fantastic recipe!

These are basically no-fail, and absurdly delicious. I had a craving for something with strawberry preserves, and so that's what I used to fill them. I cut the recipe down to 24 cookies so that it'd accommodate the one stick of butter (1/2 cup) that I had on hand, and although all I had was salted butter, which you're not supposed to use for baking, and I didn't add the extra 1/2 of an egg yolk, these came out absolutely perfectly. The result was lightly brown, very crisp, buttery, and the little bit of added salt from the butter gave them a little more depth of flavor. Great, forgiving recipe that you can truly throw together with what you have on hand!
