I made these biscuits few days ago and they came out so good. They are very fluffy if done the right way by not overworking on the dough. I didn't need all the milk given but only about 3/4 cup as other reviewers mentioned. I also found that I could reduce the salt to only 3/4 tsp although my husband said it was perfect for him! Overall a great recipe. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing this recipe. :)

Thank you for the excellent recipe. I did not have Milk but I used 1/2 cup yogurt 1/2 water and it came out light flakey & tasty. We love this recipe.

I think I will try buttermilk next time and use the butter. They were a little bland compared to my family's in TN, but very fluffy!

They tasted ok, but not great. They didn't rise much. They were ok, but I won't make them again.

I found this recipe in the Allrecipes Cook Book! And let me tell you, it is the BEST! I have been baking for years, and I haven't found a better biscuit recipe! I brush the top of mine before baking with a VERY SMALL amount of ice cold water. It makes them flaky. MMMMM!

5 stars for taste and ease. I didn't time them, I just took them out once they were a light golden brown. They melt in your mouth! Oh yeah, I used buttermilk.

These are really fluffy, big biscuits! Used butter, as did some of the other reviewers. Made a little early,so put in PAMed and buttered foil, as suggested, and refrigerated until ready to pat out and cut into biscuits. Very tasty; thanks for sharing!

Great basic biscuit- made with super sausage gravy which was also good, but they'd be great with jam, butter- anything really! I used some whole wheat flour instead of all white and they turned out great. Also substituted margarine in for shortening.

Very tasty! I have made them numerous times; in fact, this is now THE recipe for biscuits in our house. I have even made them as drop biscuits when I was in a rush and they were still excellent. Thanks for a great recipe!

I was super nervous making these since I was making biscuits for the first time for our large extended family while on vacation... but they were absolutely fantastic and everyone raved about them. I served with a sausage gravy recipe from this sight and everyone ate until they were stuffed! Great recipe :)

The flavor and texture of these biscuits is perfect! I did use butter instead of shortening but that was a personal preference. I was a little disappointed that I did not get the rise I was hoping for but I will blame that on my baking powder. I will definitely make these again in the future as they were quick and easy to prepare. They are perfect served with butter and jam.
