I tried, years ago, to make biscuits from scratch. maybe it was my baking powder, maybe it was the recipe, but they came out like little hockey pucks. I decided to try these, because it was the first recipe that I had the ingredients for. OH MY WORD... these puffed up better than those store biscuits, they were EASY as could be and they were YUMMMMYYYYY. Great recipe. Next time I will make a double batch and cut them bigger.

Do not knead! I made them ahead of time and let them sit on the cookie sheet in the fridge until it was closer to dinner time. They came out FLUFFY and tender.

These were great! I made them two days in a row! Only change, I used buttermilk instead of the milk because I had a ton that I needed to use up. They were delicious and versatile enough to have for breakfast, or with dinner, as we did! Thanks!

Whereas these are fantastic biscuits I wouldn't consider them to die for. There was a faint baking powder after taste that I'm not very fond of. But since I don't really care for biscuits and I could stand these. I'd say they're pretty good. It sounds like these can get huge, mine weren't but I did think they were a nice size. I mixed mine as another reviewer suggested, in a food processor, so easy! Thanks!

I was not impressed with this recipe, but I think it could be improved upon...it's a good base. I followed it exactly for the first batch and the biscuits were rather flat and way too salty. For the second batch I cut the salt to 1tsp., used margarine instead of shortening and didn't knead them or roll them out, just patted them to about 1.25 inch and then cut out. I had better results with a small circle as far as rising goes. These were nowhere near the Grands biscuits but I'll keep working with recipe to see if I can get there. Thanks for a great base!

I was really amazed when I tried this recipe. I normally make yeast breads and could never get the biscuits to turn out, but these were wonderful. The flavor, size and softness were perfect. I used a combination of suggestions as far as tweaking the baking powder and buttermilk. My family could not believe how good they tasted. Definitely a keeper.

Use Cold Butter Instead Of Shortening. Use Buttermilk. Do Not Knead. Mix Only Until It Sticks Together. (1 1/2" Thick). Place Biscuits Close Together. Brush With Melted Butter Before And After Baking.

if there was a way of giving 10 stars, my husband would do just that to this recipe these are so good and yes they are big.the 2nd tme i turned mine into pizza dough wow excellent pizza. but i did add finely chopped parsley to the dough at the very end just before turning onto floured surface then roll it out to desired thickness , you may not want to make it too thick as it is very filling, bake for about 5 minutes, remove from oven and top with yo favorite toppings, return to oven and bake until done maybe another 10 minutes. Will definitely be using this recipe as my pizza dough recipe since my husband doesnt eat yeast he was so happy to finally eat pizza after such a longtime. he ate about 3/4 of the whole pizza but we stil had leftovers after my 3yr old son and i had eaten our share

Great biscuits! Very easy to make. They taste just like the biscuits from KFC.. I wanted to cover them in honey... but I didn't have any. Definitely making these again.

Wow! I just made these like twenty minutes ago and they are Amazing!! They were very fluffy and came out pretty big, bigger than I expected! I replaced the shortening with butter and they still came out great.

I just made these and had to immediately review. I was worried because the dough seemed a bit stickier than what I had expected, but they turned out absolutely delicious! After backing I drizzled them with a little melted butter mixed with honey and we ate them just like that. They were fantastic!

These biscuits are just like the ones my mom makes, that she learned from her mom! The only problem with my mom's recipe is that there is no recipe- she did everything by "feel" and so I never knew how to make them. I know that these biscuits have the same ingredients that she uses, but now I know how to make them! I did take another reviewers advice and use my food processor for mixing- it was incredibly easy and took only minutes to turn out homemade biscuits. No more canned biscuits for us!

I have looked and looked, searching everywhere, for a perfect biscuit recipe. I have been unable to find it....until now! This is the best biscuit I have ever made! I was even out of all-purpose white flour and had to use unbleached flour...and they were still light and fluffy!! I also used cold butter in place of shortening. Thank you for this recipe...I will use it always!
