This is a great recipe. I left out the onion and pepper, and instead of all the individual spices I added two packets of Chili seasoning plus the sugar and some garlic. So good and perfectly flavorful. I didn't think it was too soupy, although it was in the crock pot for about 8 hours. Yum!

Love it! It is not done yet, but I have been sampling. Reminds me of my Dad's recipe. I wish I would have paid more attention as a child. He was a great cook. My daughter may find it a bit too spicy, but she thinks toothpaste is spicy. This is a keeper. Thank you!

This is a good, standard kind of chili recipe. We did add a clove of garlic and a little extra of the seasonings, plus a small hot pepper, also subbing black beans for pinto and honey for sugar. Took the lid off for the last half hour of simmering and added about 2C frozen corn. All in all, this chili is kind of bland, but still a good meal.

This is a great starter recipe as everyone says, especially because of how little prep time is involved. I substituted a 28 oz can of diced or crushed tomatoes instead of the juice and sauce, and the result was great. I also omitted the bell pepper, eyeballed the spices, adding a few more from other recipes, including Worcester sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and sage. It wasn't very flavorful to me at first, and the trick is to add in as much spices as your mouth will allow for that explosion on your tongue flavor.
