Like several people suggested, I used diced tomatoes instead of the tomato juice and it came out great! I think I have found a new favorite chili recipe!

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of red meat, and was a little hesitant to make this at home with my husband. But to my surprise, I had a bowl of it and it was spectacular. It was spicy, but not overpowering; and the meat flavor was not dominating either. Really nice chili :) I served it with a blend of shredded Mexican cheeses, a tablespoon of soup cream and lots of cilantro. Delicious.

Perfection. I added a clove of garlic to my half batch of this recipe and am currently trying it with morningstar crumbles instead of ground beef! I tried a little and it's already tasty. I love my ground beef, but fake hamburger is so much healthier!

This chili is very deceptive, because it looks so easy, and it is. I only leave out the green pepper and add crushed and petite diced tomatos instead of juice to make it richer and boy what a deffernece. It is awsome and a stand by for me at least once a month. Also, not to spicy.

This chili is awesome! I've made it several times, and it is usually gone the first night. Everyone who tries it loves it. Super easy and super good.

i hate to review things that i've tweaked. recipes should be judged as written. however there were a few things that either i didn't have on hand or couldn't find in the store (which is a corner bodega for me) instead of tomato juice i used a 28oz of pureed tomatoes- the sauce is plenty thick. i don't have cayenne pepper- but i had a little green hot pepper i threw in instead. i couldn't find pinto beans/didn't want to go the few extra blocks- so i got small white beans. couldn't get a green pepper so i used red. stuck it all in crock pot and so far it tastes great. not because i substituted due to preference, but b/c that's what i could find. i'm even more excited to the exact ingredients next time.

This was delicious!! I added some Jalapenos to make it spicy and bacon because my boyfriend loves bacon in everything. This goes great with breadsticks wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with cheese (15 min in the oven @ 350).

I love this recipe. Best chili I've ever made. Our stomachs can't take it too spicey, so I leave out the green pepper & the cayene, and this is still a perfect chili.

I have tried many recipes for chili in the past, and I have to say that this is my favorite. I only made one adjustment, and that was taking out the tomato juice and adding 1 small can of fire roasted tomatoes, and also one small can of additional tomato sauce. Great recipe, I also served it with homemade cornbread! Thanks

I really like this chili, just got done making a pot. The amount of tomato juice scared me but I left the lid ajar a bit for an hour while it simmered and it thickened up to where I like it. I didn't use any onions or green peppers, I like to put chopped onions on top after the chili is done. I also added some red pepper and a bay leaf cause I had them from another chili recipe I tried last weekend.

This chili rocks! It's so tasty and hearty. My husband requests this often! The only thing I added to the recipe was red bell pepper (yellow might make a nice addition too!) and a can of diced tomatoes. I used ground turkey meat instead of ground beef. For the tomato juice, I used a can of V-8 Spicy. Definitely a keeper!

Easy and tasty chili. We loved it. doubled the beans and just used canned kidney beans - didn't have the green pepper - doubled the cumin for that smoky light heat it brings. Used a can of crushed tomatoes instead of the tomato juice and only used 1 lb of ground beef. My family - especially my husband - LOVED it! Smelled great cooking along in the crockpot all day and came out thick and deeply colored. Delicious.

I decided to try this as a change from my regular chili becvause it was a little easier to make and used less ingredients. It was bland but at the same time, too salty. I will stick with my Washabineros Chili from this site. It is the very best!

I really liked this recipe. I am a flavor junky so I probably tripled the amount of cayenne pepper, onions, and peppers. Next time, I may add even more vegetables. Also, I made it with turkey instead of beef and you can't tell the difference.

I made this in my crockpot and pretty much followed the recipe other than i used half ground venison and half ground beef. I also had no tomatoe sauce or tomatoe juice,so I used a can of tomatoe soup and a large can of Italian chopped tomatoes. There are only 4 of us and I thought we would have plenty of leftovers, but between lunch and dinner it was all gone!! So easy and so good!!!
