This is my first yeast bread recipe. I did 1/3 of what the recipe called for in order to make just one loaf. I chose it because of its simplicity. It turned out really well as far as the rise, texture, and appearance. The texture is like soft bread but I was hoping for a more stringy pullable sweet bread. The taste is a little bland without all the fruit mixtures. I would add salt to the list of ingredients. I would also add more sugar if you are not going to put in the fruit candied mixture. Overall, it's a successful basic sweet bread recipe.

I have been looking for a good Italian sweet bread recipe for 27yrs now. My grandmother( who passed away years ago ) use to make this bread for her entire family at Easter time, She made one huge one for each family and one small one for each grandchild. I have tried other recipes for it and I find this is the one she use to use. It is the closes one that I have found. Thank You oh so much . This one is the best.
