Delicious! I've made this 4 times in as many weeks (some to share with neighbors)... To simplify preparation, I used undrained petite cut diced tomatoes (28 oz) instead of dicing my own. I used 6 oz. can of tomato paste, all dry herbs, and omitted the red wine as it's not a staple in my home. My picky 2-year-old will eat it, too. Bonus!

This recipe is outstanding. I omitted the zucchini because my boyfriend doesn't like it. I added some red kidney beans though. It was incredible!

I made this tonight, and it was really good on a freezing night. The only changes I made were omitting the wine, and using canned diced tomatoes. It was a wonderfully flavorful soup, and we all loved it.

Outstanding flavor! The only thing I did different was to use hot italian sausage, instead of the sweet to give a little and just enough kick. Whole family loved it!

FABulous!! I followed the recipe pretty closely, but left out the onions and swapped diced chicken boiled in the beef broth for the sausage (personal preference). I added a bit more wine and was generous with the seasoning. Tomatoes aren't in season right now, so I used 2 cans of diced tomatoes. Also, after letting the soup simmer down for awhile, since I used 16oz of tortellini and it took the liquid level down some, I added a bit more broth. Leftovers, are so very yummy also! Served with warm crusty bread.

I made this in the crock pot. Browned the sausage first and then put everything in the crock pot. I cooked the tortellini just before serving and stirred it in. It was awesome. Next time I will try it will hot sausage.

I made this soup almost to the recipe. I used canned tomatoes instead of fresh and ommitted the basil (I did not have any) and added a chopped fresh carrot. We at it for dinner all week and loved it. Also, I used chicken broth instead of beef. Really good recipe!!

This soup is the reason people say I am a good cook. I add a smidge more red wine and use the whole bunch of basil. If I am to serve it for dinner, I make it early in the day so that the flavors meld. ABSOLUTELY DIVINE.

This was excellent. I made it for an italian dinner party and everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. I used fresh tomatoes because other reviews said this was a must...don't know if it's true or not. I used fresh sausage tortellini and think it could've been left out as it didn't add anything special other than eye appeal. Maybe cheese tortellini would've been better, but I'd leave it out to save on cost.

This soup was absolutely delicious. I ended up doubling the broth and wine and adding mushrooms and twice the tortellini. I used fresh tomatoes but it was a hassle to boil and peel them, so next time I will use canned tomatoes since the fresh tomatoes mostly disintegrated into the broth anyway. Made this for my parents and my mother was raving and couldn't wait to make it herself! Will definitely make it again.

The wine gives this soup a very fresh and bright taste. I've used wine in a lot of soups and sauces after tasting it in this soup.

Used 1 can petite diced tomatoes instead of fresh. Used canned carrots (added them with 10 minutes left). I really liked the broth flavor, but I thought the Italian sausage overpowered especially with the Italian herbs being added. I will probably use hot or regular roll sausage next time. Husband liked it!

This was excellent! I'll be making this again. I substituted Ground Turkey with Italian Seasonings (Jennie-O) for the sausage and a 2 cans of diced tomatos with garlic for the fresh tomato.
