Oh my, this was sooo tasty. And the other reviewers are right, it makes your entire house smell like an authentic Italian restaurant. The only thing I did not care for was the tortellini. It's probably my fault cuz I bought frozen ones but I think next time I'll just use elbow or bow-tie, not cheese stuffed tortellini. Otherwise this is a gourmet tasting meal. Thanks! **Updated review - made with a half-pound or so of elbow macaroni instead of tortellini - WOW!! Restaurant quality at home! 5+ stars now!**

I cooked this delicious soup tonight and the family loved it. My lovely wife urgently filled a bowl to take to work for lunch tomorrow. The kids liked it, too. No problem with it being too salty like some users reported. It was perfect! The only thing I changed was to add some sqash - other than that, I followed the recipe. I'll absolutely make this again. Thanks!

This is the (only) reason that I actually eat zucchini. I'm not a fan of tomatoes, so I use a lg. can of crushed tomatoes. I use Yellow tail Cabernet for the wine and Bertolli's fresh tortellini. This is one of the few recipes that you don't have to doctor-up. It really is perfect just the way it is. Be sure to served with a shredded Italian cheese, crusty Italian bread, and the rest of the cabernet. It is one of the few soups that I find to be a meal in itself.

Delicious. The whole house smelled yummy. A cost-effective recipe as well since I can always buy Italian sausage on sale.

Great flavor and easy to make. I didn't have any tortellini so I used another type of pasta. I do think it would be better with small tortellini. I also didn't have any fresh tomatoes so I used 2 cans of dices tomatoes and all fresh herbs. I think the beef brooth and the wine brings out the great flavor. Very filling!

This soup is unbelievable! Would be wonderful on an autumn day. I added about a 1/4 pound more sausage than the recipe called for and it was great!! Will definitely make again!

I made this for my husband who loves soups. I ommitted the carrots due his lack of liking them. His initial comments were that it was pretty salty and could use more basil. He did say that it was better the second and third day. Still, he didn't rave like he usually does about other soups that I have made. I probably won't make this again.

Delicious! I used presliced crinkle cut carrots and diced tomatoes (drained) as my only changes. This is a very hearty soup, perfect for rainy days!

My whole family loved this soup - even my husband who is not a big fan of soups. I accidentally put in 1/2 chicken broth - soup was not salty for us.

It was well worth the time it took to make this. Well flavored and hearty. My only problem was how thick it got, but I added another cup of Beef broth to thin it out a bit and it was great. My wife hated waiting for it, but loved the taste.

Delish! I threw in a bunch of spinach a couple of minutes before it was finished but pretty much followed the recipe. I used low sodium broth and it wasn't salty at all.

My hubby and brother devoured this soup....loved it!! I used hot Italian turkey sausage, added some fresh baby spinach, a can of drained/rinsed white beans, cooked the tortellini seperate and added some to each bowl before adding the rest of the soup. Will make again! Thanks for a fantastic recipe!

I used double the tortellini and peas instead of zucchini, because that's what I had. Husband loved it!

My family loved this! I only changed it by adding 1 cup of water and simmering it for about an hour. I think next time I will add 1/2 lb sausage more. ( I made the sausage into balls) Loved it!

This recipe was good, but I'd like to have a little more flavor. Next time, I'd add more Italian seasoning or seasoned tomatoes, or a tortellini with more seasoning or herbs. Spicy Italian sausage might do the trick too.
