Made these tonight for tailgaiting--used beer in place of wine, and turkey sausage. Everyone loved them.

This was great! I'm not much of a sausage person but wanted to try something different. This was quick and easy to prepare which is always a plus with my busy schedule. Thanks for the recipe and keep them coming!!!

YUMMY!!! This is a fabulous recipe!! Very easy to make - and no alterations needed! I used beer instead of wine - and it was just as good!! Try it with Italian Turkey Sausage as a healthier alternative. I served this with whole wheat angel hair pasta and Paul Newman's Sockaroni Pasta Sauce! Thank you for such an amazing recipe that I will use again!!

This was fabulous. I have not had this dish in years. I used beer instead of wine. I used 6 cloves of garlic and 2 each Green, yellow and red peppers, added garlic and onion powder. I also used 2 lbs of the Italian sausage. I served this over 1 lb of egg noodles seasoned with butter, garlic pepper and a dash of olive oil. Thanks for the recipe, the family loved it.

This was very good and very easy to make. I didn't have any wine or beer so I used chicken broth and it worked well. I served on brotchen rolls but I think next time I will use french bread instead. I also topped the sandwiches with heated marinara sauce and that really tasted good with this.

Great starter recipe. I double the whole recipe. Sausage part hot and sweet. Then added a marinara sauce you can do that to taste. Came out excellent.

I've tried this recipe a few times and really like it, especially on rolls. We like it with spicy turkey sausage, but I'm sure it would be equally tasty with the sweet variety. The one time I used non-turkey sausage it ended up being kind of "gristly," but that could be because the store brand sausage I bought wasn't of the greatest quality. So, I think good sausage is key.

My husband devoured 5 of these in a 20 hour time span... I substitued the beer for the wine and served on toasted buns with red sauce. I am making them again tonight at his request, and am serving them at my daughter's 5th birthday party!! Not exactly kid food, but my husband will be a very happy man!

We love this recipe. I usually stick to the recipe but add some suted mushrooms to it then put at on a great hoagie type roll and top it with some provolone cheese. Put that in your broiler and melt the cheese over the sausage, peppers and mushrooms, then just go ahead and kiss yourself because you will love it!
