"This is a basic Italian sauce that can be used in any dish, including lasagne, cannelloni, ravioli, etc. It's very easy and tastes so good! Also, it smells like heaven!"

Ingredients

  • 11 tomatoes, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves

Directions

  1. Puree tomatoes in blender or food processor until smooth. Pour into a large saucepan with the red wine vinegar, sugar, paprika, salt, garlic, crushed red pepper, cinnamon stick and cloves. Simmer over medium-low heat, covered, until thickened and flavors have blended, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove cinnamon stick and cloves before serving.
