I love this recipe - it is fun and delicious. I read the reviews for this recipe before making it, unfortunately, and followed the advice to make six bowls instead of eight. I thought, hey, I can eat. Seriously, I might even be able to put two of these bad boys away, so bring it on. Yeah, um, no. Stick to eight. None of us could finish our super-size-me bowls of soup. Which was a shame because they are yummy but once filled, they can't really be saved for leftovers. I like that crusty exterior on the loaves - not hard and like a real loaf of bread, not a roll - and then the fluffy inner bread, which my younger kids squished into the smallest balls possible and popped into their mouths like little wheat pellets. I served this with Creamy Turkey Rice soup - my husband's choice - but next time, I'll make a soup that is less thick and filling, like Chicken Noodle or Spicy Tomato and Basil. The only thing I did different from the recipe - other than the make six bowls blunder - was to wait 10 minutes after the rolls were in the oven to apply the first egg wash. Never had a bread bowl before but this was great.
