OMG!!! These were by far the BEST Italian Beef Sandwiches I have EVER had. I spread butter on the buns and baked them for 5 min. on 450 degrees than I put 2 slices of provolone cheese and melted for a couple of min. I like banana peppers on mine so I added those also. The au jus was excellent. I bought sliced roast beef but I will buy shaved next time.

This recipe is wonderful and so easy to prepare. I have 4 boys so I look for recipes that are easy to make. I followed the directions only after the meat was done I put them on 6" french bread, added deli slice of provolone cheese and stuck them in the broiler for a few minutes. They turned out great! I will make this recipe again!

This was not as good as I was hoping it would be. The ajus needs more flavor.

Quick, easy and tasty dinner. My kids loved it! I used Kaiser rolls and toasted them in the oven. I also added sliced onion to the peppers. Serve the "au jus" in individual dipping bowls so you can "dip as you go" and your bread won't become soggy.

My mom made this recipe for years! I love it!! We usually just of the beef with au jus and then add jalapeño peppers on the sandwich. It is so easy and great for company.

My family and I found this to be just "ok". Perhaps it was the deli meat although I splurged on higher quality meat at the deli counter.

My husband and I love these sandwiches! I ended up making 2 sandwiches on huge hoagie buns. Even better if you butter up the buns, add a little cheese, and toast lightly before adding the beef. I love that it's so quick to make.

Excellent! I halved the recipe and used an 8 oz pkg of Healthy Choice Roast Beef. I added 1/2t ea of basil, and parsley. I also substituted onions for green peppers. As others suggested, I buttered and toasted the buns under the broiler, then added Monterey Jack cheese and melted it in the broiler as well. I don't think you can go wrong with this one. It's going in the recipe box. Thanks!!

These were great! I added onions and used angus roast beef. I also took the advice of other reviewers and toasted the hoagie prior to serving.

This recipe works well in mass production - I made it for 36 people. It took 50 minutes from start to finish to prepare this and a nice salad (with others helping me). It was low stress, tasty, and received compliments.

I used porterhouse roast beef slices from the deli. I broiled the bread as suggested in another review and added pepperjack cheese – I also added mayo to the end sandwhich. To the broth I added sarano peppers (we like things spicy!) and onions (cut in strips) These were soooo yummy! Ended up putting the green peppers, some of the onions and sarano peppers from the broth onto the sandwich too. very fast and easy - a keeper!

Excellent!! Nice fast meal for a family on the go! I did add some cooking sherry to the beef broth and it really kicked the flavor factor up. I did add provolone to the sandwiches too. Yum!

My VERY picky husband couldn't stop talking about these sandwiches last night! The au jus is perfect. I omitted the peppers for personal preference. I also buttered the sub rolls and broiled them for a few minutes in the oven. This made them taste more like resturant style french dip. I also added some pepper jack cheese to my husband's roll while it was toasting. But the basic part of this recipe, the au jus, is perfect just the way it is! My new busy night favorite.

This was really, really good. I am giving the recipe a 4 because I changed it a bit, so I am not able to give an accurate rating, nor I want to deceive anyone with my rating. The recipe gives the right idea, but it might be a bit bland. While at the grocery store I decided to get a little creative and I purchased and added italian seasoned roasted beef, on top of the regular roast beef (I saw the italian seasoned roasted beef after I had already asked the deli counter to slice the regular pound of roasted beef :(. The italian seasoned roasted beed was soooo yummy and it had a lot of flavor. Im addition to the green peppers, I also added horseradish flavored cheese to the sandwich. For the Au Jus, I replaced half of the beef broth with half of beef consomme and placed the sandwich on a double hot grill to flatten it down a bit and to heat up the hoagie bun. YUM!!!!!!
