This is one of our favorite crockpot meals. I like to make my own homemade italian dressing mix and use Campbell's condensed beef broth instead of water. I serve this on garlic butter rolls that I broil with provolone over the top. Always a huge hit.

WOW - so simple and so delicious! This has to be one of the easiest and tastiest crock pot recipes! What's great about it too is it's very inexpensive and makes a lot. I used only one package of Italian salad dressing mix and 1 cup of beef broth. I also added some minced garlic from the jar and added about 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar to cut heat a bit and cover more of the roast. I also added two vidalia onions that I quarted and added half way through cooking. I cooked this on low for 8 hours and the smell was heavenly. We served this on toasted hoagie rolls with provolone cheese - YUM!

I started using this recipe when it first came out in Taste of Home magazine. It is the best Italian Beef recipe I have ever found. Thanks for adding it here so I can easily add it to my meal plan.

Excellent....also added fresh ground pepper, some garlic powder, oregano and dried basil. Served on crusty rolls with extra hot pepper rings and provolone cheese. Used beef broth in stead of the watter, too. Great crockpot meal!!

I hate crockpot meat - flavor drained out and mushy rather than tender. I have made this using my cast iron dutch oven with an oven temperature of 300. I also use hot peppers. Dick Pierce's Italian Beef is much better - the packaged dressing gives this an off chemical taste.

Excellent! I am NOT a cook and I prepared this for about 13 guests for a relaxed dinner party and it was a hit. I highly recommend this for those who are challenged in the kitchen.

Great flavor but don't cook peppers as long as the beef. Use deli sliced beef instead

I love this recipe! I use deli roast beef and cook it in a crock pot for a quick filling meal. This makes it very easy.

Upon reading the previous reveiws I decided to sub a can of beef broth in place of the water. Then served it on french rolls with melted cheese. Perfect!
