I did not care for this recipe. It is the texture of a muffin, not a soda bread. a waste of time and baking products

I made the recipe exactly as stated. It did not overflow the pan as others have stated. The bread was done about 11 minutes before the given time. I think it could have used some sprucing up as the flavor was not quite there and the texture was all right. I would not make it again as given.

This was just ok. I like the flavor of the store bought ones better. It was easy to make, but I took off an extra star because I made the recipe exactly as written and it overflowed in the pan. After reading the reviews, I see others have had that same problem. If you need to read the reviews before preparing the recipe to avoid mistakes there is a problem with the recipe as it is written.

Tried a lot of different recipes and this is the best Irish Soda Bread I've ever made. I almost ate the whole thing myself. YUMMY !!!

i did not measure too closely and had some trouble with my oven but the bread still turned out very well. I like it much better than the last store-bought soda bread i had and feel confidant that it will turn out even better next time i make it.

Very tasty, I made varieties both with and without raisins and both disappeared very quickly.

It was like a fluffy scone, and honestly, I'm not really into scones that much. However, I do appreciate their regional authenticity.

Very good. The picture shows raisin's but the recipe didn't call for it so I didn't use them and the bread is suppose to have a plain flavor to it but this wasn't too bad!

I'm not big into "traditional" Irish Soda Bread, but my husband and I loved this recipe! It has the perfect amount of sweetness and it holds up really well with a hearty meal!

For 3/17 I tried a neighbor's recipe for Irish soda bread and it was great - but I thought that buttermilk might give the bread a better taste. My next mistake was not using a loaf pan, as directed. I used a shallow tin, as I did last time, but apparently the buttermilk causes the bread to rise and it spilled all over the oven. I rescued it as best I could, and it came out tasty, but somewhat crumbly. Probably due to the interruption in baking when i had to clean out the oven. So if you try it, use a deep pan!

Made this for St. Patty's Day this year and my husband ate almost the whole thing. He said this was definitely the best soda bread he has ever had. It was so moist and delicious, it was almost like eating cake. This one is a keeper and we'll never buy soda bread again! Thanks!

I make this every time I cook a roast. Hands down this is delicious, easy, and I get compliments every time it is served. I even make it when the neighbor plows my driveway and give it as a "thank you" gift, he loves it!

The taste was similar to the soda bread I grew up with, but the recipe is definitely lacking raisins and used a bit too much sugar. Soda bread shouldn't be so sweet. Also, after one day, the bread became quite crumbly and difficult to slice.

I tried this one, with the addition of caraway seeds and rasins, for St. Patty's Day and loved it so much I am making it again for Easter! REALLY easy and very, very tasty. My grandmother was from the Isle of Mann, so I know this is not a traditional Irish soda bread, but that is ok...All you have to do is add an eggs worth of buttermilk, delete the rasins, caraway seeds, egg, and sugar and you are pretty close to the soda bread my Nanna used to make!

Raisins are a must for this delicious, moist, slightly sweet loaf. Super quick, easy and it rose beautifully. I used a 9x3 instead of 9x5 and it worked fine. Definite make again.

Nice & Moist! I cut down on the butter and used Splenda instead of sugar to make it 'healthier'. I also added a cup of raisins. Very moist, light & fluffy!

My son and I made this together for St. Patricks day and, except for addition of a cup of raisins, we followed the recipe exactly. This is different than any other Irish soda bread recipe I've tried before. I don't know how traditional it is, but I will say this is the first time I've made soda bread and the whole loaf was eaten. Usually soda bread has such a hockey puck type of texture that it's only good the first day. This was good the next day too. It has a bread, almost cake-like texture. I was going to try making french toast with it, but it was eaten up too quickly!
