VERY good soup! I added carrots, onion and celery too because I needed to use them and I like lots of veggies... loved the bacon flavor and it froze really well too! Thanks Ita, I will definitely make this again!

Delicious! Used reg bacon & green cabbage Also I had a few veggies that needed to be used. Sauteed onions, carrots & celery. Simmered with 2 cans ckn broth, 1 can veg broth 2 bay leaves & 1 scored pork hock for extra flavor. Veg broth added to ckn broth does make a difference. I learned this from a chicken soup recipe on this site

This was good soup that we all liked. I will make it again when I have bacon and cabbage. I save five stars for dishes that make me drool to think of them, but this was tasty.

This was great! I added alot more to it. Added basil, oregano, minced garlic, corn beef. I used the Italian style diced tomatoes. I cooked the cornbeef in the crock pot adding the spice to this too. I used some of water from the cooked cornbeef plus 2 cans of chicken broth. I used the regular bacon and cabbage like a lot of the other reviews. It turned out very good. Took it to work and shared with the ladies in the office. They enjoyed it!

This was phenominal! Of course substituted Kale for the cabbage and Peppered Bacon for the Irish Bacon. Flavor was wonderful without additional seasoning and was very hearty and filling.

I am not sure what the problem was, maybe I was expecting too much. The flavors really didn't blend and it was just.. ok.

I made this on St. Patrick's Day for our churchs' soup and soul food dinner. It was gone in no time and it received rave reviews. Thanks so much for the recipe.

Very good. I used regular bacon and served it with the Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread. Made for a GREAT St. Patricks Day (and the day after!).

Sadly, this recipe didn't meet my expectations. I found that the tomato overpowered the soup and I couldn't really taste much else. Since it is a "bacon and cabbage" soup I was really disappointed that the bacon and cabbage were lost in it. May try again without tomato and more chicken broth.

This is fabulous. The only thing I did differently besides doubling the recipe was to saute some green onions, a small leek and a few garlic cloves in the pan before I added the other ingredients. I browned the bacon in a large skillet as I find it is easier to drain that way. I will definitely make this again.

I was not able to find the Irish Bacon for this recipe; however, I did research Irish Bacon and used Canadian Bacon...it was stated that they are similar. The packages of Pancetta were so small. I made enough for 20 people. It came out wonderful. I did as others had suggested and added onion and garlic. Very good flavor.
