This recipe is wonderful. I reduce my balsamic vinegar until it becomes a glaze and then drizzle over the top, makes a sweeter glaze YUUUMMMM

This is my all time favorite dish during the summer - I can't get enough of fresh plum tomatoes straight from the vine and fresh snipped basil. We always have fresh mozzarella cheese in the house.

Simple, elegant, and tasty. I love how this is the authentic recipe. My husband has however asked for me to make the one using balsalmic vinegar next time. Oh well, suppose we should see which one we like more. I served it to our Japanese friends who don't know how to cook Italian. Served it with Bruschetta II, American Lasagna, Roasted Garlic Bread, roasted eggplant, and My Mother in Laws Eclair Cake. Wonderful line up.

As other reviewers have stated, make sure you have the very freshest ingredients! I love, love, love good caprese and chianti! I also drizzle balsamic vinegar with the olive oil. I made this with little balls of mozarella, halved grape tomatoes, snipped basil, sea salt, fresh pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar for an office luncheon. It was a huge hit! Everyone wanted my "secret recipe"!!!

Delicious, simple and elegant! I was wondering what I was going to do with all the basil I'm growing this summer. I found tomatoes on the vine that were smaller than normal, cut them in half and tore the basil leaves in half and they made great bite-sized appetizers. I did add a sprinkling of balsamic vinegar as well as the olive oil.

Excellent recipe. Our family "trick" is to lay out the tomatoes and allow them to soak up good quality balsamic vinegar AND a spinkling of rosemary flavored salt for at least 30 minutes before assembling and eating.

My hisband and I love this. My son is a chef and I made this for him and he really liked it. I also add a slice of cucumber and a slice of red oniion. It is very good. This makes for a nice change from just a salad.

Caprese salad is always a hit at our home. Don't use the bars of cheese marked mozzerella cheese. Only the fresh balls (usually packed in water) will do for this salad.

Oh!, I so agree it must have the balsamic drizzled over with the olive oil and we only use the Roma tomatoes. This is a requested family favorite for all get togethers

This is the BEST side dish OR appetizer in the summertime! I like to use roma tomatoes because they are more firm and don't forget to reduce the olive oil and add minced garlic and balsamic vinegar before drizzling over it. Yummy!!

This is one of my favorite foods. It's so easy to make, and SO delicious! I like to chiffonade the basil and sprinkle balsamic vinegar on top. Also, I tried using grape tomatoes cut in half, each with a little slice of cheese on top. So pretty and so good!

So easy, and so delicious! I used vine tomatoes and fresh basil from my herb garden. I also drizzled balsamic vinagrette on top. Great summer appetizer/salad.

Excellent basic recipe. I think we enhanced this recipe by sprinkling on some pine nuts. The pine nuts seem to complement the flavor and add some texture.

Good Recipe, but if you want to kick it up to the next level, use Buffalo mozzarella cheese. Found in specialty cheese departments of large supermarkets. Comes from Italy. Good stuff.

Heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozz is the only way to go with any Caprese. I think more EVOO and less Balsamic is better, but that is just this Italians taste. This is truly a super summer treat!!!
