as a hoosier, i was disappointed in the batter. it was average at best. had to cook longer to get the dogs crispy and the batter didn't plump up, leaving too much of a hot dog taste. texture was okay, not much flavor. looked nothing like the picture.

Glad I found it!!! My super picky kids liked them - said they like the others better ( the over processed frozen things ). I used new oil. I told them when I make them again..... they will like them even more. I used turkey dogs as they are a little better for them. I will make this recipe many, many times I am sure!

Very good - but then homemade corn dogs are always delicious! Nice and thick batter that was pretty easy to work with. My husband and kids LOVED them.

Hmmm, tried to bake these on 400 for around 10 minutes. The flavor is pretty good, but probably better overall friend (was dry baked).

This reminded me of store bought corndogs. I cut the hotdogs into little pieces and made corndog bites bc I did not want my children to have the sticks. If you knew my children you would understand why. (There bad:0 Anyways, I think I had the temp up a little too high bc the 1st batch cooked wonderfully but the second batch got really brown quick and they did not cook all the way through. I will def try again.

Just like the corn dogs we used to get at the fair before they started using those nasty frozen ones!

I'm impressed! Perfect! My hubby suggested that I cut the dogs in half and stick the skewar in so that they would be easier to handle in my fry daddy (I still have the old one!) and it worked like a charm! Lovely batter that stuck to the dogs with no problem. I just dried them off good before battering them up. I will make them again for sure. A++

Great tasting recipe. I know from personal experience that the best way to get any batter to stick to the hot dogs it to lightly dust them with cornstarch first but make sure you get off all the extra.

Awesome! My boyfriend's friends were all over working on his car and in gratitude, wanted to make them something really good, but didnt want to do the traditional hamburgers... I actually put a pot of oil on the grill, and cooked them that way- I had to go back inside three times to make another batch! Its true tho, the batter was wicked thick, i had to add more milk, and even then, the batter didnt really stick to the dog all too well- it took a good 2 minutes per hot dog to coat! I also added more sugar the second time (I actually used splenda), just to sweeten it up a bit. Awesome, awesome recipe, will be forced to make again and again.

I love this recipe! I have made these for family gatherings and for parties at work! They're so easy to make and really don't take that long at all. They taste delicious! My only addition to the recipe would be to make sure the hot dogs are either dry or coated with corn starch before dipping them in the batter -- otherwise the batter is likely to slide right off the hot dog.
