Original recipe makes 1 750ml bottle Change Servings

1 (750 milliliter) bottle vodka

1 (7 ounce) can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, or more to taste

Directions

Pour vodka into a plastic or glass bowl with a tight-fitting lid and stir in chilies with their sauce. Save the empty vodka bottle. Store vodka mixture in refrigerator for 4 weeks, shaking or stirring once per day. Strain through several layers of cheesecloth and pour back into the vodka bottle using a funnel. Seal the bottle and store the flavored vodka in the freezer.

Cook's Note:
One-half cup of raisins can be added with the chipotle for sweetness and depth of flavor if desired. The marinated raisins are delicious (and surprising!) in oatmeal cookies, or drop one in a shot glass and top with the vodka.

I took a quick taste of this before I popped it in the fridge. Boy is it going to be good in Bloody Marys. Next time, I'm going to try the raisins as noted in the Cook's Note on this recipe. I did this recipe as a part of the Western Region's Faceless Frenzy July 2012.
