This was pretty good. I used bacon and thought it came out a little greasy but this could have either been from the bacon or all the oil and butter. Not sure, but I will try it again with ham.

My entire family really loved this recipe. I used olive oil and reduced it to 3 TB. I also used real butter and reduced to 3 TB - that was plenty and it was delicious!!! I added a heaping spoonful of minced garlic when cooking the onion. I also added fresh spinach and mushrooms. Great, simple, and quick recipe - perfect for left over ham.

As a fan of traditional carbonara, I was pleasantly surprised with this EASY recipe. The first time I make a recipe, I try to religiously stick to the directions, however, I was feeling adventurous & made a few changes. I doubled this recipe and used a LOT of onion. I added a teaspoon of chopped garlic but I'd probably add a little more than that the next time. I used olive oil and cut the amount of butter by a tablespoon or so. After I added the angel hair pasta, I also added about 3/4 of a cup of half and half before tossing in about a cup of frozen peas and adding the Parmesan. (Gulp) that's a lot of changes - but I feel that this would be an excellent recipe even if you followed it exactly. This came together in about 30 minutes. Everyone loved it! Thank you for an excellent offering!

Maybe it was an issue of execution, but I really didn't think this recipe was good. :( It had a funny flavor to it, that was not characteristic of this type of dish. I did not like the ham in it, as it does not bring the contrasting texture (and flavor!) that crispy bacon does. Instead of Hurry-Up Ham Carbonara, I would prefer Slow-It-Down Bacon REAL Carbonara.

This was delicious! I did make a couple of changes however. I added some fresh thyme, lots of garlic and I used cheddar instead of parm. Also, I think my fresh from the coop egg yolks made a big difference in the richness of this dish. I will make this again and try different herbs and cheeses.

This recipe is a total hit in our house. It is the sole recipe that I make that all three of us eat - my one year old loves it! He usually eats typical toddler fare, but he will eat two bowls of this pasta without looking up. It is definitely a family favorite, and it is SO easy to make!

This was such a fast and easy meal. My kids love butter on their pasta better than any red sauce so this was a big hit. I thought it would take me longer to cut up the onion and ham and to make the sauce so I didn't drop the pasta in the beginning. I ended up having to wait for the pasta to finish cooking. It was a little dry after I added the cheese (all I had was the stuff from the green cans) so I added a bit more broth to moisten it up. Thanks for the recipe.

Really good! My husband thought it was great. I think I will halve the butter next time. There was a whole bunch left in the pan.

Pretty good - I was looking for a recipe that didn't rely on cream or milk as a base for the sauce. This worked perfectly. Great for a quick night meal.

I usually use bacon, but ham was easier. I use one more egg and less broth. To get a better coating of egg and parmesan cheese I mix them together in a bowl with the seasonings and then poor over the noodles and eggs. Stir well and enjoy! I love this and have been making a variation of it for years! It has always bugged me never having a name for it. Now I know. ;-)

My family loves the carbonara recipe I usually make with bacon. When I tried this recipe using leftover ham I got a lot of grief. But they loved it. I cut back on the chicken broth and added some heavy cream and mixed in the parmesan cheese. I also used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. I would make this again.
