Doubtful it'll make you go "wow," but it's a good basic sauce. I was able to find the Hunts fennel & red pepper tomatoes, and you definitely can taste the fennel in this recipe. Made as written and thought it was just a tad bland, so I did add a few red pepper flakes. some freshly-ground pepper, and a little garlic powder for a little punch of flavor.
Great basic "spaghetti sauce" recipe if you're new to cooking and used to using a jar sauce. Play around with it and use spaghetti noodles. Try some different spices.
I added red pepper flakes, fresh ground black pepper, and salt to taste. Also, I used regular canned diced tomatoes, and then just added some diced red pepper from the fridge, and ground a little fennel seed fine, just to add a hint of that flavour. Basically, I was looking for a quick meal to make in a pinch with ingredients I had available, and this was it. It had good flavour and was a healthy, satisfying meal with a salad. Thanks for the recipe. I will make it again!
