I am always on the lookout for soup recipes because anything I buy in the store or in the restaurant, for that matter, is usually loaded with salt. This recipe was really the bomb for those of us who love mushrooms and a creamy sauce!

I thought this made a fairly decent bowl of soup but my husband absolutely LOVES this recipe. Needless to say, I've made it a few times now! The first time I made it as directed, and it was pretty good, with room for improvement. The second and third time I made it, I added baby portabellas (sliced) in addition to the button mushrooms. I also added a splash of cider vinegar, which I felt complemented the dill, and at the very end I stirred in some sliced green onions and crispy bacon, just to give it a little more "oomph." I know I will be making this again, as hubby is crazy about it. Thank you SO much for sharing!!!

I looked at this recipe and couldn't imagine if it would actually taste good with all that combined. It is heavenly. I modified the recipe and added a little more salt, and three cloves of finely minced garlic, which I sauted with the onions and mushrooms. I also added a little onion powder. This recipe even makes great leftovers... if it lasts that long.

Wow, this was the BEST mushroom soup I've ever had. Added slightly less dill based on other reviews and used FF sour cream. It turned out incredibly rich and creamy and was super easy to make. My better half and I agree that this will be a staple in our soup rotation. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful dish! Edit to say that after discussing this soup, we came to the conclusion that it's very similar to Goulash/Stroganoff type dishes ... we think that it would be awesome with some beef in it and served over noodles.

SO GOOD!!! I had to change it up a bit due to what i had in the house. I didn't have any sour cream so i followed all the other directions and subsituted a little evaporated milk and a drop of sherry for the sour cream, it turned out great. This soup really does give the warmth and heartiness of eastern european cooking...delish! I can't wait to make this again, i'm thinking subbing creme fraiche for the sour cream will give it an even more authentic euro flavor.

I really liked this soup. It was tangy, creamy and savory. I was a bit skeptical when I mixed in all the spices but it all came together. I used dried mushrooms since I didn't have fresh ones and it certainly made it a meal. When I make it again I might only use a few, mixed with an assortment of fresh mushrooms.

Absolutely love! This is a great recipe. I mix butter and olive oil instead of all butter and I used a lot of different types of mushrooms just to mix it up! Its great!!

This was very good and easy to make. My husband loves chunky soup, so I added more mushrooms (cremini and white button mushrooms). I had boiled a whole chicken, shredded some pieces of it and used the broth; I added that in as well. I always cook with garlic so I also added a minced clove of fresh garlic when I sauteed the onions and mushrooms. Salt and sour cream were added to taste. I put a little Worchestershire sauce in as well. Next time I will experiement and add more vegetables like potatoes or celery and increase the broth. Great recipe.

Wonderful satisfying soup!!! So rich and delicious, but not fattening. I used leeks instead of onions and added 2 Tab. paprika instead of 1 and tweeked it with a dash of sherry and omited the sour cream. This will be on our favorite soup list. Thank you for submitting it.

I made this after eating a version of it via my Hungarian in-laws. When they tasted this one, they were extremely pleased. It's delectable, and has done wonders in bridging a cultural gap here.

A new favorite! I love mushrooms, and this was so hearty and creamy. Like others have suggested, I used low sodium soy sauce (my family still said it was a bit too salty), skim milk, and light sour cream, as well as freshly-squeezed lemon juice. At first I thought the amount of dill weed was a little overpowering, but after a few spoonfuls I really liked it the way it was. This one's going in my home recipe book.

Now, THIS is a great soup! I made this for a New Year’s Eve party where most of the guests were dedicated carnivores, but one can’t eat meat products beyond chicken broth in the evening. I had a crowd hovering within sniffing range! The only changes I made were to double the recipe, add a few cloves of garlic with the onions, and two medium, coarsely shredded red potatoes along with the mushrooms, as I only had a pound and a half of mushrooms. Worked great, and the soup held up very nicely in the crock pot on warm for my buffet presentation.

I don't hand out five-star ratings for everything but this recipe deserves it, hands down. One of the best soups I ever made. I didn't think it had too much dill at all, just the right amount in fact. I floated a thin slice of lemon on top before serving. This soup got rave reviews all the way around the dinner table. I'll definitely make it again.

Very nice home made soup! Even without the paprika (thought I had but didn't) it still was excellent. Both of my sisters requested the recipe. Next time I will add the paprika.
