I make this at least twice when blueberries are in season. Makes a great coffeecake or dessert. 

Aunties Wild Huckleberry Pie

Huckleberries, brown and white sugars, tapioca, and apple cider vinegar are stirred together and poured into an unbaked pie shell. The filling is dotted with butter and the pastry top added. This wonderfully sweet pie bakes in about an hour.

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on some fresh huckleberries, this is a wonderful recipe. Lemon zest adds a little extra kick!

This recipe came from my grandmother. As children, my sister and I remember going to Pennsylvania for blueberry picking. Mother taught us to pick only perfect berries, and those gems went into this wonderful recipe. --Carol Dolan Mt. Laurel, New Jersey

Huckleberries are a hard-to-find, delicious treat and finding recipes that use them can be even harder. I came up with this recipe as a variation of my favorite blueberry muffin recipe and they truly are delicious! If you can't find huckleberries, blueberries work well. 

Blubaugh's Blueberry Buckle Shortcake

Blueberries take the cake in this favorite family recipe with German/Pennsylvania origins. Spread the shortcake dough over a baking sheet, make a well and spoon blueberry pie filling into each square, then bake for a dessert or breakfast treat.
