Though I've eaten a lot of homemade german potato salad, this is the first attempt I've made to make it myself. This turned out very much like my family recipe. I substituted fake bacon for the real bacon so everyone at my office party could enjoy it, and it didn't seem to make any difference to the end result. I did need more moisture when adding the dry ingredients to the onions and "drippings", but just adding the water and vinegar early solved it.

Yummy !! I served this along with pork chops and they were just perfect !! Don't hesitate to try them ! I cheated a little and made my sauce right in with the bacon after cutting it into little pieces. I was also afraid that the vinegar would be to much and wanted more sauce so I added 1/2 cup of water. I also doubled the sauce but did not double the vinegar nor the celery seed. Will certainly make it again and I forgot to say that I'm a bacon lover also so I added more bacon. This seems to be a sauce that you can easily adjust to your liking. Thank you !!

This is absolutely delicious. I always double the sauce and trim the fat off the bacon. Sometimes I use turkey bacon if that's all we have. It always turns out great.

I had never made or even tried warm german potato salad before, but it was the perfect side dish idea for our Oktoberfest party so I tried this recipe. It was wonderful! I followed it exactly. The only change I will make in the future is to use red potatoes with the skins on. I used peeled baking potatoes which fell apart too easily.

Yum! I added some diced celery in with my onion and some hard cooked eggs when I mixed it; hubby especially liked it! :)

These spuds definitely have a delicious tangy kick to them! My boyfriend thought they were a bit too intense, but I loved them! I used apple cider vinegar instead, and they turned out just right. Thanks for the recipe!

This Recipe is 4 star 'as is' if you take the other reveiwers advice about the potatos. It's even better if you put a bit less flour and a little bit more vinagar into it. Thank you!

This dish was great. Made it for an Oktoberfest with friends and it was a hit. Lots of taste compared to others I've had. And even the kids came back for seconds.

Good stuff!!! Used this recipe for our oktoberfest party and it was great! I made ahead of time and put in the crockpot. It was ok the next day reheated, but the bacon grease was a little funny. Used lots of bacon and apple cider vinegar. I totally forgot the celery seed..so it probably would've been even better!!! Will make again. Got lots of raves for it!!!

This was a very good recipe. I also didn't have celery seeds but instead used celery salt. I was satisfied with the amounts for the sauce but would not object to increasing the quantities. The only problem I had was trying to keep the potatoes together. I like the idea of trying red potatoes to prevent that so I will try them next time. I will definitely be making this again.

This was excellent! I never had German potato salad before and thought to make it this weekend and it turned out AWESOME! I didnt have any celery seeds although I did add some chopped celery to it to give it some crunch and I also added some chopped parsley to punch up the color but otherwise it turned out GREAT! Thank you for the recipe!

Followed the recipe exactly - it turned out wonderfully. Every member of the family loved it (even the picky eater who doesn't like potato salad asked for more!). This tastes like the authentic German Potato salad I had growing up. Great recipe!
