I was pretty sure this was not going to be as good as my standby recipe, but I was completely amazed at how great this was. I followed the recipe except added 2 TBL. spoons of bacon drippings and added the crumbled bacon to the slow cooker. You have to give this one a try!

Excellent recipe. Cooked in 3 hours on high. Reduced sugar and used 1/3 stevia instead.

I made this exactly as written, and though OK, it lacks flavor. It needs more vinegar, less water by about a third, less sugar, and a sprinkle of dill weed before serving.

Can't wait to make this. My husband LOVES hot german potato salad, and this way sounds soooo easy! Only difference from my regular recipe is I've never made it it a crockpot and I don't use tapioca. Will make as written and let you know. Thanx! Just made this and I will NOT replace my regular recipe with this. It was just OK. Not enough bacon flavor, easy, but not like "moma" made.

This was very good. I love German potato salad but always hated the hassle of making it. I thougt it was a little bit sour and I usually like mine more sour than most. Next time I will cut back a little on the celery seed and increase the sugar a little. I expected to have to thicken the sause but it made a perfect syrup type sauce. This will be my new pot luck recipe - easy to make and easy to take (and keep warm). Thanks for sharing, I will definitely be making this again (and again)!

I made this potato salad for our office potluck. It was a hit. There was only a scoop or two left by the end of the day, one of the most-eaten dishes. I added an extra slice or two of bacon, but otherwise made the recipe as written.

was great!! the only thing was that my mom use to put half the bacon in and two tablespoons of the bacon dripping in for more flavor
