Snow day here so I made another hot dip for a cold day. I did not use all mayonnaise--I used a mixture of mayonnaise and sour cream. I also increased the onion (a full large sweet), the bacon (a full pound of turkey bacon) and the garlic (four big cloves). This was tasty! Next time, I might add more cheese but as is, it was inhaled by my husband and kids. NOTE: I did not follow the instructions for the bread. I used day-old italian bread that I rubbed with EVOO and garlic and just crisped up in the oven. It was the perfect side for this dip--almost like schmearing a tasty grilled cheese on garlic bread.

I found this really tasty - but I was disappointed in the texture. It didn't seem to stick together and was quite oily. Maybe some flour would have helped.

I made this for a work party and put it in a pie plate instead. Everyone seemed to like it, it was good on sourdough rounds.

My guests loved this! I did not have time to cook this in the bread bowl as suggested, so I cooked the dip in a pie pan for ~25 min and served with pumpernickel cubes. The bacon flavor was pretty pronounced; if you prefer a more subtle bacon taste, prepare with fewer strips of bacon.

I was a little scared about the Mayo, but i figured it had enough reviews. I also made it in a crock pot instead. It worked just fine, but once its completely heated, turn it off or watch it closly to make sure it doesn't burn. My husband doesn't like mayo, but he didn't even notice. It was a HUGE hit. I think people ate more of my dip than the dinner. OH! and i added MUCH more bacon than it calls for.

Gone FAST! But I have to tell you as I'm making this I'm getting worried. It's not seeming to come together and doesn't look that great. Then it comes out of the oven and I put it out for our NYE party it was gone in 10 minutes! People LOVED it and so did I. It has great flavor and its different than your normal paty dip/spread... I'm wondering how it would do staying out a bit longer in terms of it cooling... but I doubt I'll ever find out - it's YUMMY :)

Huge hit!! Made this for the first time 2 days ago. It was everyone's favorite - and I even liked it and I'm not a big fan of bacon. I didn't put it in the bread loaf, even though I bought it. I ended up putting it into a fondue pot that someone just gave me as a gift. It wasn't really fluid enough for the fondue pot but again, it was fantastic. Will definitely make this again!! Thanks for this great recipe.

Yummy! This is SO easy to make, and it was gone in no time when I brought it to a holiday party. Next time I may have to make 2!
