Hoosier Chili
SUBMITTED BY:
Jeanne Boberg
"This chili is a little sweeter than other recipes I've tasted, but I like it that way. It reminds me of the chili my mom used to make."

Excellent recipe. I grew up in Indiana before moving to Missouri. This is the chili that I grew up with. It is a souper chili and is great with the macaroni in it. Just as I remembered growing up!

It looked like it would be a bit too soupy for my taste so I didn't add the tomato juice but added a tablespoon of tomato paste and used diced tomatoes instead of stewed. I did add a cup and a half of water to it. I also added a drop of liquid smoke and dry mustard to give it a bit of kick.

Loved this recipe. I left out the green pepper and garlic just because I didn't have any. I also cut down on the chili powder...just because my husband doesn't like it. Will use this recipe again. Thanks!

I've made this chili 3 times now and it is delicious. It is a nice change to the basic chili that I grew up with.

Fantastic! I used diced tomatoes instead of stewed, only had a 15 oz. can of beef broth so I used all of it, increased the elbow macaroni to 1 1/4 cups, used only 2 TBSP chili powder, and I cooked it all in my slow cooker. Seriously good stuff! I will be making this again, we all loved it! Thankyou for sharing this tasty recipe!

This is my least favorite chili recipe; there is way too much tomato juice that made the entire dish watery; it wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked and the macaroni got really soft. I even let it sit overnight in the fridge assuming it may taste better the next day and perhaps thicken up but it was exactly the same. I will NOT be making this one again.
