Followed recipe exactly. WOW!! We served this at our New Year's party. My man had won a 19 lb turkey in a turkey shoot, and it was taking up space in the freezer so I planned the party menu around it. (If you've never been to a turkey shoot, you fire at targets, not turkeys. They give frozen ones as prizes.)Did not have to baste at all, and guests all said it was the best turkey they had ever had! Thanks so much!

Soo good. I actually used this recipe and cooked the turkey upside down, only flipping it back over for the last hour.. such a good recipe. The Michiganders rock!

YUM YUM YUM. I'm not even a turkey fan. My husband is an instructor in the Navy and a few of his students came for Thanksgiving. SEVERAL of them commented on how juicy and flavorful the turkey was. Will cook it like this every year from now on.

I've made this 3 times now and all 3 times came out FANTASTIC! I had only cooked a turkey once before, and it was dry and not very palitable. There were 2 turkeys at the Thanksgiving party I atteneded, and all that was left of mine was bones - while the other was barely touched!

Turkey on Thanksgiving Day turned out moist and tender - just wonderful. The only problem I encountered was the drippings were way too salty for making gravy.

WOW...The butter trick was slick. Had the in-laws over for xmas dinner. I added old bay seasoning instead of the seasonall salt, but followed everything to a tee, presto! the timer button popped out right in front of me as I was pulling this very moist bird from the oven. Will use this recipe from now on.

I used this recipe for game hens. I have to say that they were the best game hens ever! I cut four game hens in half and placed them in a large baking pan. I melted the butter in the broth and poured it over the game hens. I didn't need to use all of the broth for the hens so I used it for my stuffing. For the stuffing I added one more stick of butter and little chicken broth. I seasoned it with sage and then baked it, covered, in the oven. Everything turned out very tasty and moist. Great recipe!

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Im 30 years old and I got the chance to make the turkey for the first time ever this christmas. Ive never made one so i wanted to make one that was off the chain so as to please my family. They were a little woried that since it was the first time i've ever made one as to how well it would come out. Well, at the end of the day they all concluded that from now on i would be the official turkey maker, lol. I did manage to fill the house completely up with smoke though, because the pan i used to put the turkey in wasn't big enough to hold the chicken water in when it started to boil over. After the fog was cleared out my family was a little more concerened that this turkey would bust. Thankfully all their worries were relieved after they put the first piece in their mouth. Thank you ALLRECIPES.COM. You have onced again made me look like a great cook

This recipe was absolutely amazing! I made my first turkey ever using this recipe and I LOVED it! My husband and brother-in-law don't usually like turkey, but they raved about this turkey! I also added some minced garlic cloves and saffron into the water/bouillon mixture. I will use this recipe from now on!

This was the most amazing turkey I have ever made! I do not like white meat as it's usually so dry but wow this time - was incredibly moist. I did have to add more stock halfway through as it evaporated - probably into the bird! Thanks very much for posting this recipe.

Mix butter with garlic powder to make a paste. Use 1 to 1.5 sticks of butter, rub under all skin Sprinkle seasoned salt after liquid is poured I added 1 tsp. garlic powder to the water along with the bouillon (use 1 TBSP), parsley and onion. Put fresh rosemary under the breast skin with the butter. Also placed a quartered lemon and quartered onion inside the cavity. Used a 12 lb. bird as recommended and it was done in 3.5 hours. Allowed it to rest 20 minutes before carving. Be sure to spray the foil with cookong spray. Use shallots instead of dried onion. Absolutely unbelievebale!! Christmas Dinner 08 THANK YOU!

Ok you got me, this is super easy and marvelous! I mad my first turkey ever yesterday for christmas eve and it was the hit of dinner. There were no leftovers! Except I only used 3 cups of water instead of 4, the pictures seemed to look very wet. And next time I may use even less. For special dietary needs I used fake butter. Oh yeah, the gravy made from the juices was the best ever! Not only did I make this awesome Turkey, but I use the recipe for cornish game hens too.

Used this recipe for my first turkey and am still using it. Makes a great bird. Even better when used with the 'Basic Yankee Bread Stuffing'.
