I followed the suggestions and added the milk cold, and since I was out of vanilla I used almond extract. I used 1/3 cup of sugar. I added cinnamon and grated some nutmeg on the top - delicious! I'll definitely make this again and double the recipe.

Wonderful! This is what pudding used to taste like. I also mixed the dry ingredients in the saucepan and then added the milk. Then heated. It turned out great! No lumps.

This recipe was only ok. It was very sweet and the consistency was just awful. You really have to add less sugar and corn starch.

This pudding is awesome! I did follow the reviewers sugestions of mixing dry then adding cold milk, and finally heating. I doubled the recipe and added a teaspoon of cinnamon.

I followed the instructions given by the member before which was very helpful. Though I wasn't sure whether to put in the butter and vanilla extract in with the dry ingredients all at the same time, I did it anyway. This was my first pudding and it was creamy and yummy! It could have been thicker though, maybe I should have use regular milk and not fat free? After refrigerating it, it became too solid...oh well, not a bad recipe overall.

This pudding was good, but not what I was looking for. I thought it tasted a lot like hot milk with white chocolate. My husband did not like it at all. I cut the sugar back to 1/3 C like people suggested. I was very glad I did. I love sweet stuff and even with 1/3 C instead of 1/2 C it was plenty sweet. I also took others' advise and mixed all of the dry ingredients together in the pan first, then poured in the cold milk. Even though it was not what I was looking for it was ok.

This tastes of something from my childhood. It really took me back. Could do with a little less sugar, but overall, AWESOME!

This is a great recipe! I've made it twice now, once making it as the recipe was written, and the second time I tried adding a bit of nutmeg and chopped peaches. It's fantastic both ways, although I find I end up adding an additional 1/2 to 1 tbsp of cornstarch to get it to the consistency that I like, and I reduce the sugar to 1/3 cup. As suggested by another reviewer, I just mix it all in a glass casserole dish and then cook it uncovered in the microwave, stirring every 90 seconds, for 5-6 minutes total. Thank you so much for posting this recipe, even my 3-year-old son (who hates anything soft or mushy) loves this pudding! :)

Absolutely delicious! I made this with a 1/4 cup browm sugar and it was excellent. I also used fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and it didn't affect the consistency ir taste at all. Yummy!

Trust me, never make this with skim milk! It had an unpleasant color to it, sort of an opaque color. Also, hold back 1/2 cup of the milk and add the cornstarch to it to make a slurry. Once the milk begins boiling, add the slurry and quickly whisk it.

Great recipe for a simple vanilla pudding, I added 1/2 t nutmeg, then as it cooled, some sliced banana, and served it over a square of puffed pastry with whipped cream to top. Personal banana cream pies, fantastic!

Yum! I thought this was great - I followed the suggested "no lump" method though rather than what is stated. I whisked together the dry ingredients, then added the milk, then heated until thick. So good! And very easy. I added raspberries as well and mixed them in.

Vanilla pudding is one of my favorite desserts... I dissolved the dry ingredients with cold milk and then proceeded with the cooking because that's the way I've always made pudding. The first time I made this I used whole milk and was satisfied with the taste and texture even tho it didn't have egg. I made it again using 1% milk and didn't care for the result.
